Lou's not an idiot. The reason the guys are the highest paid is because they've shown the ability to be good. Nobody on this team is playing well right now. You may as well play the guys that have at least proven they can.

Somebody earlier in the thread mentioned something about moving Soriano in the line-up, since he has the most power. Only problem is that he only hits it out of the park when nobody is on. So, you may as well give him as many chances to hit solo HR's as you can. I finally came to grips with this realization later on last season. He's just not a good hitter with runners on. And he's phenomenal typically with the bases empty. This year, 9 of his 14 HR's have come with nobody on. I think you just have to live with his getting one RBI per HR. And hope that others can knock in the runs...

I disagree; Soriano had 80 RBI last year, a number that any team would take out of the leadoff spot. Of course, the difference was that the guys in the lower 1/3 of the order were actually getting on base last year. You also have to keep in mind that he got those 80 rbi despite missing two months, so you could theoretically add 40 more rbi to that total.

The problem is that nobody is hitting right now; it isn't just Soriano.
