Trade Deadline
As the trade deadline gets near I found this discussing trade thoughts of all teams still in the race see anyone on your teams list that you want them to go after? Disagree with what they say your team needs? http://theghostofmoonlightgraham.wordpress.com/2009/07/15/as-july-31st-approaches-what-do-the-contenders-need/ -

Re: Trade Deadline
Royals have two people that they could get something good in return for. Mark Teahen and David Dejesus. They might consider trading Brian Bannister but with Meche going on the DL, that might not happen right away.
I'd like to unload Guillen and grab a couple of good out fielders that can hit a constant 290-300 AVG.

Re: Trade Deadline
Nick Punto is proof that there are too many major league baseball teams. The Twins need someone up the middle that can drive in some runs. Harris is solid but is he an everyday player? Casilla might be special some day but right now he's too inconsistent...when he's even up with the club.

Re: Trade Deadline
Pretty much right on with the Sox. They need someone better than Clayton Richard. Quentin should be back for the next series, which makes the Sox offense pretty ******* dangerous. Already five guys in the lineup hitting .296 or higher. The others are Thome (.264)), Ramirez (.279), Getz (.263) and the centerfield suck du jour.
Someone was talking about a deal involving Flowers, Poreda, Viciedo (as a PTBNL), Jor. Danks and a low A guy like Hudson or Carter from the Sox for Halladay. That'd be horrible.
And Rick Morrisey of the Chicago Tribune suggests a package starting with Alexei Ramirez and John Danks. He's quite obviously smoking crack.

Re: Trade Deadline
According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, multiple teams have shown interest in left-handed reliever George Sherrill.
The O's seem fairly open to trading their closer. "If it's something meaningful coming back, something we don't have, a building block for the future, we would have to consider it," said Andy MacPhail, the team's president of baseball operations. The Cubs, Marlins, Dodgers, Brewers and Angels are among the clubs that have shown a good amount of interest. If Sherrill departs, ninth-inning responsibilities would probably fall to right-hander Danys Baez. But bear in mind that Baez is also on the market and could be dealt rather quickly.

I'd like to unload Guillen and grab a couple of good out fielders that can hit a constant 290-300 AVG. Oh, if only someone else wanted Guillen. I would trade him for any batboy out there. Any teams want an outfielder who can't run with bad legs and can barely hit who doesn't hussle and likes to whine and has a bad attitude.... at the bargain price of just $12 mil per year? Any takers? Hey, we'll throw in Mike Jacobs too!
I really hope they don't trade Banny, because he is a good young cheap pitcher who we control for a few more years. Would love to see us unload DeJesus, I hope we don't trade Teahen unless we get something real good in return, because he is pretty much our most consistent everyday player and he can fill in for so many positions, and god knows we need players like him who actually know how to play ball and run the bases!

Re: Trade Deadline
I disagree with their summary of the Cards. St. Louis needs a bat, not a pitcher. We did trade for Mark DeRosa but he is 0-13 and missed two weeks with a wrist injury.
Read today that the Cards are interested in Adam Dunn. While he is a K machine, he would be a much better option in LF over Rick Ankiel and Chris Duncan.

Dude hits around 40 homers 100+ RBI every year and while his K rate is high check out his OBP. .402 this year .383 career which is pretty good for a guy that hits for as much power and K's as much as he does. Plus he's a good clubhouse guy on top of that. His fielding is not great but he more than makes up for it with the bat. I am still mad the Cubs didn't try to sign him instead of Bradley.

Re: Trade Deadline
Peter Gammons thinks the Red Sox need to pursue a bat most of all. "The Dodgers will acquire pitching. The Giants will get a bat. Florida may get a closer. The Cubs will also do something," he believes
-
Re: Trade Deadline
Gammons is actually wrong every year.
I dont think this one will be any differrent.
Florida will most likely sell and the Cubs dont have any money.

Re: Trade Deadline
Ozzie Guillen does not expect any trades before the deadline, according to the Chicago Tribune's Mark Gonzales. But Scott Merkin of MLB.com talks to GM Ken Williams, who doesn't rule out the possibility.
