    Mark Prior to be released?

    Another chapter ends in the Mark Prior saga, and it still isn't on a positive note: According to MLB.com's Corey Brock, there are indications that the Padres are about to release Prior from his minor-league contract, possibly today.
    The 28-year-old Prior hasn't thrown since April, says Brock. The former phenom had signed a deal with the Padres in January that would have been worth $1MM had he reached the majors. But as it stands, Prior hasn't played in a big league game since 2006.

    Part of me feels bad for the guy.

    I just don't get it... When he came up everyone said... His mechanics are incredible. He will never get hurt. He is like Maddux, but better...

    He had two really fluke injuries. One was in 2003 when he ran into Brian Giles while running the bases against Atlanta, and the other was when Brad Hawpe hit him in the elbow with a line drive in 2005.

    Totally agree Tarheel the fluke injuries are the interesting thing. I'd be shocked if he had ever been injured before also and didn't know anything but sucess. Well I hope the guy the best

    In hindsight it appears that the Minnesota Twins made the right decision when they had the first overall choice in the baseball draft and opted for a certain catcher over Prior.
