I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everyone. -

According to MLB's blackout policies Iowa is about 15 team's market.

Re: Des Moines Baseball Market
I admit - the Red Sox talk in the Midwest can be rather boring....but the point was the talk about the biggest sports story of the weekend. The Papi press conference was a major turning point for the Union. It was really interesting.
I think we have been very consistent with what Ken and I told you we would be....Flavor of the day radio....what ever is big - we will talk about. Papi was 1st. NFL was 2. Opp. preview was 3rd as we will always do that...then Tiger.
Tomorrow - same...flavor of the day but it won't be Red Sox talk at all. If you realize that this what we would talk about regardless of where my fandom lies - then I think you will understand the point of the show today.
Anyways, I think August is pure torture for us. Football so close - yet preseason is all you talk about. NFL will lead the show tom - Mike Florio at 4:30 and then Iowa St. opp preview at 6.

I love some people who are Cubs fans, but I don't love them because they are Cubs fans. Cubs fans are not the 'best' fans.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about it. I don't live in the Midwest, nor do I listen to sports radio. I just voted that way to **** with y'all. Don't confuse hope for a plan. -

You think it's bad here, try living in Las Vegas, which is "home" territory for the Padres, Diamondbacks, Dodgers, Angels, A's, Giants, and Rockies.

Prospect
Flavor of the Day
Hey Matt, just one guys' opinion:
The problem with your discussing Ortiz on a local Des Moines, Iowa, sports talk radio program is that this topic has already been BEATEN TO DEATH by Rome, Cowherd, Patrick and a gazillion other national ESPN/Fox sports radio talking heads. (Well, that and the fact that many of us already feel like ESPN shoves the Yanks-Red Sox down our throats. All. Summer. Long.)
A topic like "Papi" is spent, played out, worn out, DONE by the time you guys start droning on about them And you bring nothing fresh, insightful or unique to the subject. Same with the NFL. And Tiger. And the Kentucky Derby. And the NBA.
So it's August. Are you saying you can't possibly work to find anything of local interest to talk about each day unless there's a served-up event like "media day" or a game? Because if you are, then there's no reason to listen from April (after men's college hoops ends) to September (when college football really gets cooking). That's five months!
Forget the national "flavor of the day." With all due respect, you guys bring nothing to it.
Get local.
Signed,
Flavor Flave.
