    Will Armstong win?

Who will win the Leadville 100?

Dave Weins, Lance Armstrong, or someone else?

This has to be one of the most grueling sports events in the world.

Isn't this event usually won by a Tamarahara indian from Mexico?

Last weekend Armstrong raced the "Blast the Mass" mountain bike race in Snowmass. It had 4,700 feet of climbing over 27 miles. Armstrong won.

The real crazies race the Leadville MTB 100 and return the following weekend to race the Leadville 100 Trail 100 (100 miles of trail running in the Mountains).

I'm torn. I think Lance is the better athlete but Wiens owns the Leadville 100. With the focus that LA has put on the event this year - no races after the Tour, living and training in Colorado, etc. - I'll give it to Lance.

Lance is going to win pretty easily. He almost won last year and is in much better shape this time.

those who are familiar with Colorado bike races. I was in Colorado (heading west on I-70 on August 1st of this year. Around the leadville turnoff was a big bike race (the bikes had numbers) with probably hundreds of entrants. they were heading up the mountain (which was for miles and miles it seemed).

Anyone know what event this was?

To the person who said Levi would win the Leadville 100 - is he able to compete at a high level already with his broken wrist?

    Copper Triangle.

80 mile ride (6,000 ft of climbing) from Copper Mtn up over Fremont Pass to Leadville, then over Tennessee Pass to Minturn and Vail, then over Vail Pass and down to Copper Mtn.

The other epic single day Colorado Alpine ride is the Triple ByPass. Which also tackles 3 passes (Squaw, Loveland, and Vail =10,000 ft of climbing) that are as hard or harder and is 120 miles - from Evergreen to Avon. It is normally held in Mid July.

Levi had planned on competing until he broke his wrist in the Tour de France.

Thank you very much for that information. We drove right by the start/finish area, according to the website i looked up, and next to the bike trail along the interstate for many miles. We were going down, they were going up! Wow!

Is there a bike race similar to the triple bypass by done not on a trail road, but in a mountain bike environment? I had a couple old friends do a ride like that in CO (triple bypass reminded me of the course) but i was thinking it was more of a trail ride.

I observed this race on Saturday. Both the race and the crowds were absolutely phenomenal.

It was a such an inspiration to me, far more than any other sporting event that I have ever attended. But again I have never been a major sport guy (football, basketball, or baseball).

And by the way Lance Armstrong won the race and shattered the course record.

Thanks for the update. So in a different post I think you said that you competed against LA in tri events in the Dallas area. Is that correct, or did I misunderstand? If you did, and have any personal experience with him, please share.

It is correct. I don't have anything out of the ordinary/interesting to report though. I can remember having a few short conversations with him, and he came across as a cocky/brash individual. Even when he was a senior in H.S. he was riding a very expensive bicycle, which was comped of course.

The attached photo is of Lance Armstong after he just got on his bicycle last Saturday.
