If the Vikings are going to pay him 12 million to play for one year, how is that on him?

What, you missed the "if"? that was a worst case scenario. If he sits out two games, or even the four that the Williamses are out, that's still saving wera and tear on his arm and body.
It's clear that what they are actually paying him for is to win the Super Bowl. In that case, the playoffs and the last few games of the season are all that are really relevant--the rest of the team can get the Vikes into the playoffs.
How about the Berrian injury? Anyone?
We got a new Marshall here in town, and his name's Paul Rhoads, and the times, they is a'changin'.

How about the Berrian injury? Anyone? No, there is no "if." He's going to start, there won't be any sitting out, not for 12 million, and especially not when you consider the Vikings other options at the position.

The man really goes through great lengths to avoid training camp.

At this point I think you want to be traded or released if you're Sage Rosenfels.

I doubt BF is going to spend time mentoring Sage, TJ or Booty if he is still around. At least he has not done that in the past from what I understand, so how are they going to develop? I just think this could really suck for the team, and if he gets injured and goes down, I think you have a mess on your hands.

You're making a good amount of money to not do a whole lot, and you're closer to home and that makes your wife Maria happy. He's never really been more than a serviceable backup anyways...

Re: Favre To Sign With Vikings Today
I don't understand why some Vikings fans are thrilled by this. The last 4 years Favre has been average at best. He threw 22 TDs and 22 INTs last year...not exactly lighting the world on fire. In the last 4 years he has 88 TDs, 84 INTS, and has taken 90 sacks. So for those that say last year was because of injury...the stats show that isn't true. Last year was in line with the past 4 years.
Now, add in another 1 year in age, new team/new system, and 1 month to prepare for the season...how is this going to help the Vikings?

Re: Favre To Sign With Vikings Today
I bet Sage ruined his plans to sit during camp and sign a week before the season starts. He saw Sage kick *** last week and figured he better get signed.

If you're an opposing DC, who do you respect more, Brett Favre, or Tarvaris Jackson? You know what AP and Chester Taylor bring. You also know Favre can beat you one on one. You don't have to really worry about Tarvaris beating you through the air. Favre can do that.

Re: Favre To Sign With Vikings Today
Wow. Talk about inflation. 30 pieces of silver (~30 AD) = $12 million (2009)
So, what's it going to be, Vikings? Do you force Favre to learn an entirely new playbook in about a month or are you going to change the terminology on the rest of the team, like Favre's demanded in the past?
Vikings-Texans, here I come!

I don't think you can pay him $12 mil to sit on the bench... Can you?

I agree that Favre can do that but he also can give games away. Favre had 4 more INTs last year than Tarvaris Jackson has in his NFL career.

I don't see what some people are so excited about signing Favre for. Favre was a great QB and I had a lot of respet for him in GB, but that was 5 years ago. He is showing his age and can't make some of the plays he used to make because he has such terrible break-downs in funamentals some games and his body won't let him get away with that anymore. I hope he proves me wrong, but I would rather see Sage or TJ until Favre proves he still has what it takes to be an NFL QB.
