Either way, the cubs can't win.

Good post. Very interesting how lame the Cubs farm system has been developing position players. I think focusing on pitchers is the right idea too. You have to have pitching first and that minor league depth has allowed them to make some nice moves. Their problem doesn't look to be the strategy, but rather how they sign hitting free agents to supplement the pitching. Fukudome, Soriano and Bradley have not produced as expected. Good game plan by Hendry, but poor execution.

I'm just wondering when that dates back to. They have Jamie Moyer on there, but not Maddux? How did the author come up with that roster?

I'd really like to see them break down the Dodgers like this... Not only all the young talent they have now, but add in some of those young guys they let go over the last few years and I think it would be a tough squad...

When Mcdounaugh was with the cubs he went out and got the biggest FA out there and didn't have a budget.... the result - Soriano.
Now with crane kenney as president coming from a lawyer backround you don't have a real strong baseball mind. With someone there with some baseball sense maybe bradley doesn't get signed?
