Re: Cubs fan its official...
When Jim Hendry is fired, I'll be ready to mend the relationship.
The campaign starts now. November 6, 2012. -
Re: Cubs fan its official...
Thought this was simply going to say next year is the year.

Re: Cubs fan its official...
Marty will probably lead off his show (does he still have a show?) that the move of the I-Cubs to Omaha is now inevitable....
-
Re: Cubs fan its official...
I'll be curious to see if they make any drastic moves right from the start like firing Hendry and mandating Bradley is traded or released and allowing at least 1 major free agent signing or trade that requires taking on some additional payroll. I don't think they are going to go NY Yankees style and just open up the checkbook but I do see them doing something to get the fans excited and improving the team.

No because the Omaha Royals don't draw squat as it is right now for attendance and they have an existing agreement in place for at least a few more years with Iowa who draws way more fans than Omaha would. This is the 2009 numbers:
#12 Iowa: 536,872 total, 7895 average
#34 Omaha: 371,046 total, 5456 average
Iowa also increased it's attendance from 2008 by 49,524 compared to Omaha's 21,670

Re: Cubs fan its official...
My guess is there isn't any way that they fire Hendry.
They just signed him to a pretty good extension, didn't they?
I agree with some others who've said that Hendry built the divisional winner the past two years. He deserves the opportunity to clean this mess up.
If he has any word on the future of Bradley - will be interesting to see.

I'm talking about Marty.
Try and keep up.... -

Re: Cubs fan its official...
cut the fat and move on. play with some cheap young guys if we have to. trade z for some more young guys sit a year out and come strong in 2.

Re: Cubs fan its official...
I have a buddy that lives in Omaha and he says Creighton baseball outdraws the Royals there and that he can't see even switch the AAA team to the Cubs would make the attendance any better than it is now. Its not like the I-Cubs are struggling here in Des Moines and a smart businessman like Ricketts is not going to move an affliation unless it makes good business sense to do it.

This is where I think they could logically do something to save money and get some good cheaper young players in return. pitching has not been the problem lately.

Re: Cubs fan its official...
Cubs going to Nebraska is so unlikely....It holds no water.....why would they want to lose money???......If they move...which they wont..I would think closer to Chicago...

Try and keep up.... Who is this Marty guy you speak of? Last time I heard him he was dropping f-bombs during a commercial then I haven't cared about him since...
BTW, one of my co-workers said he was ranting about how Rhoads was over the top and too emotional and how can anyone take him seriously after seeing the video. Well after dropping f-bombs on the radio how could anyone take that opinion seriously either?
