It's sad that he obviously can't accept the fact he's getting older and isn't the same player he was in his prime.

Agreed, if you're not willing to walk away at your peak (see: Michael Jordan with the Bulls), be willing to accept the other side of the hill (see: Michael Jordan with the Wizards). There's no shame in getting older, but handling it this way is bad.
