Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
That '97 AL Central title is so ours.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
Only if Carlos Baerga gets signed will I believe in the '97 title.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
A lineup featuring Albert Belle, Andruw Jones, Frank Thomas, Omar Vizquel, and Chris Snopek definitely would have taken out the Jaret Wright and Bartolo Colon led Indians that year.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
Vizquel signing is good...solid backup at 3 IF positions...Jones...well...kind of a "why not" signing in my opinion. Can't hurt...

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
Bench should be one of the oldest and most accomplished in baseball between Andruw Jones, Omar Vizquel, Mark Kotsay and the rumored Henry Blanco.
And I guess 2001 AL Central would probably be more correct.

So is Dye for sure going to the Yankees now or what? Whats gonna happen to Wise?

Big shout out though for DW's HUGE catch in Buerhle's "perfecto" though!!!

Wise is a Phillie, I believe.

Alex Rios. Teahen will play third. The Baconator will play second.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
Harold Baines may consider a comeback.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
I don't get signing Jones. He hit .214 for Texas. Why would the Sox want him? You would think there must be better options out there. But as a Twins fan, I won't complain.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
He is supposed to be a strict bench signing.
-
Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
Wise is a Phillie, and there is no guarantee that Pods will be back. Once he figures out that no one will pay him big money, he may crawl back for cheap. I'm kind of hoping someone will give him his money and we can move on.
If Thome is signed as DH, I could see Jones getting a few starts against lefties to maximize Thome's value and try to keep him healthy. Overall, it's a blah signing. Similar to Bartolo Colon. Low risk, potential high reward.
Not a huge signing, but no denying he's better than Wise. Overall, team improved.

Re: Sox Sign Vizquel, Andruw Jones
As a Texas Rangers fan I was hoping to retain Omar next year. As for Andruw...no big loss there, but a serviceable outfield backup/ DH.
