Saints
Impressive win last night, obviously. Another good night for Brees. And while the Saints offense continues to impress - what really wowed me was their defense. Held the Patriots to 17 points and 7 of those were off a turnover giveback by Ellis.
And with just under 5 minutes to go and down 21...the Patriots threw in the towel and put in the backup quarterback. I can't remember a time when I've seen the Patriots give up. I know it's 21 points but I've seen them come back from similar deficits.
The Saints just beat it out of them - amazing. And with guys playing in the secondary (IIRC there are 2) that were not on NFL rosters just a couple weeks ago. It certainly helped that Brady was under fire most of the night and the blitz was perfectly timed/executed.
Defensive coordinator Williams was the best addition New Orleans made and Sean was quite wise to give up a bit of his salary in order to get Williams in there. The Saints have given up some points in a few games this year. But, when push comes to shove, that defense steps up.
That's a team that's almost unbeatable should the defense continue to play smart, physical football.

Re: Saints
Great game. Nothing more fullfilling than the Pat losing. (Oh, and the Saints are crazy good too.)

The Viking offense is better than the Patriot offense, no doubt. However, should the Saints defense continue to play at that level, as much as I like Favre and AP - there's no way the Vikings score that much.
They made Brady look like a slightly above average quarterback last night and Bill to throw in the towel with just under 6 minutes left.

Re: Saints
Vikings are a much much better team then the patriots. They can pressure Brees with their front four while the Patriots can't. Their LB's are better and when they get Winfield back their DB's will be better.
And their offense is so much more balanced. Patriots are becoming predictable.

Re: Saints
I thought Bill and Tom looked like little babies by throwing in the towel. It's like they don't know how to act when they get their ***** kicked

They can both essentially score at will. Saints don't have any huge weapons, they just have a bunch of weapons. Vikings have a few HUGE weapons. Vikings can also drop 7 every play and not have much of an issue stopping the run that the Saints do at will against opponents with the Williams Wall and Jared Allen rushing off the end on passing plays.

I agree, the Vikes are much better. I just think that based on the number of times I've watched both teams and the fact that the Saints defense continues to get better, the Saints are a bit better than the Vikes. I'd rather we didn't find out and Dallas be there at the end, but since that's not likely - yeah - I'm looking forward to that potential game. And I like the fact that these two are very close in record and most likely will have to play/win every game to see who gets the top spot.
The playoffs this year in both conferences should be full of offense. The teams currently playing the best football in both the NFC and AFC can score some major points (Saints, Vikes, Colts, Chargers). IF it pans out like that, what a pair of conference title games that would be. Originally Posted by Clones85' I thought Bill and Tom looked like little babies by throwing in the towel. But I was shocked to see that. It's a huge credit to the Saints because while rare, the Patriots have been beaten good before and I've never seen them give up like that.

Re: Saints
I just want to see what happens when Jared Allen gets in Brees face. I don't think the Saints have seen a pass rush like the Vikings have. With that being said, the Vikes need Winfield to play at 100% and need Sapp & Paymah to stop with the stupid penalties if they want to beat the Saints passing attack. Minnesota and New Orleans could be a better game than the actual Super Bowl.

and Jared Allen would scare the living **** out of me in an alley at night.

Re: Saints
anyone that owns Pierre Thomas in fantasy knows the Saints have been saving him all season long. The guy only got 9 carries last night (50+ yrd) and only 2 throws (both caught) one for a crazy good TD.
Either Payton has completely lost his mind and doesn't know how good he is - or he's saving him for the end game. The Saints were also missing their number #1A WR (Reggie Bush) He only adds to the potential of the offense.

Every game I've seen him play he forces a fumble, gets a key interception or some other big defensive play to turn the tide.

When is Winfield expected back?
