Twins designate Bonser for assingment

The Twins designated pitcher Boof Bonser for assignment to make room for Carl Pavano, tweets Kelsie Smith of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. The 28-year-old Bonser had labrum and rotator cuff surgery in February. Bonser sports a 5.12 ERA, 7.3 K/9, and 2.9 BB/9 over 391.6 career innings spanning three seasons.

Too bad for Boof, but I doubt if he will be very effective next year. Jesse Crain just isn't the same pitcher that he was before he went through the same double surgery that Boof went through.

I hope Neshek is able to return to his old form.

Certainly glad Guerrier stepped into that setup role

Actually, Crain was excellent down the stretch this last year.

That is correct. It took a year and a half plus a demotion to AAA where Bobby Cuellar reworked his mechanics to accomplish the 2nd half rebound. The Twins didn't have that luxury with Boof plus the verdict is still out to see if Crain can repeat his 2nd half coming out of the gate next year.

I'd rather not, they have enough options in the bullpen that if they were to make a move I think more could be gained thru picking up another quality infielder or starting pitcher.

La Velle E. Neal III of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune says the Twins attempted to sign Bonser to a one-year deal recently, but were turned down. He's expected to be released.

Neshek coming back to form is going to be huge.
As will Liriano not being a complete and utter pud.

MLB.com - The Red Sox added some potential depth to their already set starting rotation on Thursday, when they acquired right-hander Boof Bonser from the Twins for a player to be named.

Designated for assignment by Minnesota on Tuesday to make room for Carl Pavano, Bonser missed the 2009 season after undergoing right shoulder surgery in February

Bonser was traded to Boston for a PTBNL. Most likely will get a minor league player back in return.

The Twins acquired righty Chris Province from the Red Sox for Bonser, according to a press release. It should also be noted that the Sox signed Bonser for 2010.
