Thanks for clearing that up guys. I wasn't sure what ever came of that or had just forgotten.

I tried to find something clearing this up and found this:

and at least one other. The shame is that in a google search I still find more about the initial story, showing that these rumors can persist. That is a shame.

I have heard far worse rumors of things DONE to Alomar that kind of stay within baseball circles. I have even talked to Hirshbeck about the situation, he is over it and thinks Alomar should be a first ballot guy. Alomar can be argued to have been the BEST second baseman of all time, not saying he is, but he's in the conversation.

Looked back at his stats. He is clearly in. Even by the vote it is clear he will get in soon. I don't think he could be considered the best all-time, but he does have some case with all the gold gloves and SB. It almost looks like the last few years of his career actually hurt his case. I just feel dumb bringing up the story, but glad if it has been debunked.

My guy for all-time is Rogers Hornsby, not that I ever saw him play.
