Josh Cribbs wants out of Cleveland

SI.com - Josh Cribbs believes it is "unlikely" he'll play another game for the Cleveland Browns. Cribbs intends to clean out his locker after feeling 'insulted' by their latest offer.

"It's unlikely the way they're talking right now," said Cribbs, stung by the team's latest $1.4 million annual offer. "I'm hurt because I don't want to play for nobody else. But the way they're talking, they're leaving me no choice."

Where do you think he goes?

Unemployment line...not likely but it's fun to daydream about.

He's the best kick returner in the league. Someone will want him and pay him well.

Re: Josh Cribbs wants out of Cleveland

Okay so explain something to me....

Answer me this....Cleveland offered a 6 year 6.77 million dollar contract to a kick returner that at the time had done very little. Cribbs seeing the 2 million dollar signing bonus jumped at the offer and was ecstatic....

Now just three years later that deal is junk....

Why do these guys even sign 6 year deals???? If they think they got the "IT" then sign 3 year extensions and become free agents. Cribbs is worth more no doubt, but why do these guys sign such long contracts??? I realize for the mega contracts you have to sign over 6 years to prorate the crazy signing bonuses, but for 2 mil why sign such a long extension....I think Cribbs should fire his agent!!!!

    This isn't uncommon.
Not unlike signing a losing coach to an extension.

He's the best player on the team and one of the best in the league returning and is not all that bad of a receiver. Pay him or lose him. That's how it is. Cleveland continues to struglle to manage a damn team.

Re: Josh Cribbs wants out of Cleveland

i have no problem with him wanting or expecting to get paid....

I wonder why someone signs a 6 year EXTENSION for only 6 million dollars....

If Cleveland wants, they can have him sit through the next three years and not pay him a cent and not play him....see how he would enjoy that....i dont get his leverage....

I DEMAND TO BE TRADED......hey stupid, your under contract, you've already said you wont show up to offseason workouts or play next season if they dont trade you....well guess what, they dont have to trade you and if you skip those things, they dont have to pay you either.....

I dont get it.....there are ways of doing battle besides twitting about it or going to the media, go into Holmgrens office and state your case, thats what your agent is for, but opening his mouth and spouting off about what he is or is not going to do is stupid in my opinion.....his stats are worthy of the money, calm down and let the process play out.....

Of course they will try to lowball you, you fell for it once before (remember 6 years 6 million), why not try it again!!!!!

Contracts in the NFL are meaningless for the most part. Guy's gotta do what he has to do to get paid.

In addition to the Dolphins, the 49ers reportedly inquired about Josh Cribbs' availability prior to October's trade deadline.

Cribbs' trade market is already red hot with nearly three months left before the trading period. In terms of compensation, 49ers beat writer Matt Maiocco says "some believe" Eric Mangini's Browns requested a second-round pick.

NFL contracts are not guaranteed you have to get your money when you can. Also they sign that long of contract because the team has to get under the salary cap

If I were the Niners I'd jump all over that. Cribbs is a known quality. A second round pick will always be a crapshoot.

    Packers please please please
Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."
