Re: Official Cowboys vs. Vikings rollcall.....

Last time i was in the Dome i was with my wife, her sister, and a friend, all of them in Vikings stuff and me with my Romo Jersey on....

Of course they were playin the lions but my wife and i had a great time and the funny vikings fans that kept making jokes about my romo jersey....it was too funny....

I think they even brought up Nate Newtons second drug trafficking arrest it was great....

This weekend should be worse i'm sure....At least this time i will be with another cowboy fan.....but i'm guessin we will be outnumbered!!!!

Here's to gettin out of the dome with a win and our lives!!!!!

Wow congrats to the vikings they beat us up big time.....

But, wow i couldnt believe how arrogant and obnoxious the viking fans were i had at least 4 different people get in my face while walking in and out of the stadium.....but the viking fans that were right around me were way cool, cheered and heckled very well.....

If i could have had 1 dollar for the number of times i heard "ROMO'S A HOMO".....

funny thing is, and every vikings fan dont want to admit it, in 1 year maybe 2 when favre retires again, win, lose or draw, they will again be left at 8-8 or worse with tarvaris and romo will have matured and it will be his time......

I will be cheering on Favre and the Vikes, i would love to see them win it all, plus my wifes a vikings fan......

It's hard to admit to something that isn't true. When I watched the game, I must have missed Favre making all of those sacks and tackles that held the Cowboys to 3 points. The truth is that the Vikings triangle of authority has done as good of a job as anyone in the league the past several years in building the roster. I would not be surprised to see them pull in another upgrade for the QB position. Even if they don't, this is a 10 or 11 win team with a more seasoned T-Jack at the controls. The upgrades and developments at RT and WR alone make Tarvaris a better QB. He had some serious holes at those positions when he ran the show.

No question about that, but i will argue that some of the throws that were made yesterday by Brett were simply awesome....that guy is one of the top 2-3 qb of all time...period.....Tavaris is not more seasoned sitting on the bench......he cant make the throws plain and simple....sorry....

But your right, dallas turned the ball over 5 times, and we got what we deserved...i meant no ill towards minny as if dallas got jobbed because they didnt...minny went out and beat us up - they deserved it 100%.....

But, if you try to convince me that you put tavaris jackson in that lineup and your going to only win one less game then with favre i say your not seeing the game realistically......theres a reason they signed favre - leadership and experience....TJack has neither and the only way you get it is by playing and executing, imo what favre has done is nothing short of incredible....and your right, he's made rice into a star.....and your right the front office has raised the level of talent across the board - no question, but, the qb still makes or breaks the team.....

RT yes, but the receivers when T-Jack was a starter were who....

Rice, Berrian, Wade.....so in essence the major change in the offense has been because of percy harvin in lieu of Bobby Wade......

Um no, its because the qb could hit the guy in tight coverage, like yesterday, two of s rices touchdowns were thrown into great coverage and Favre simply made the throws that brett favre makes......imo tavaris jackson will never make those throws.....

But your right, you look at any very good free agent qb, minny would be a very desirable job when brett hangsem up again, no doubt about it.....

I don't think that anyone would doubt the fact the Vikings front office built this roster for an short term run at the super bowl. They paid a lot of money to a lot of veterans that will not be around for the long term. But....

I am confident that the Vikings will continue to build the team with young talent. It has been a long, long time since I thought that way.

Just look at the last three drafts... Sidney Rice, AP, Harvin. Not a bad nucleus to build around.

Agree with you 100% they have drafted very very well....

look at last year alone, i think they got 3 starters out of the draft (Harvin, Loadholdt, Brinkley)....thats doing work through the draft....and in 2008 they got Jared Allen for a first and third pick, and another starter in the second round in Tyrell Johnson.....the front office deserves a raise cuz they gettin it done through the draft.....now they need to hit the homerun with a qb for the future.....

I agree that Favre put the throws exactly where he needed to. What hasn't been addressed, however, is all of the off-season development that Sidney Rice did last year. The player who showed up for camp last summer was not the same guy who was running routes for T-Jack last season. He spent time working out with Larry Fitzgerald and credits those workouts for elevating his game. He's no bigger, stronger, or faster, but he's much more confident in his abilities and has greatly improved his positioning when it comes to battling for contested balls. He credits those improvements to the workouts with Fitzgerald who kept convincing Rice that he had a world of untapped talent that he wasn't using effectively.

Re: Official Cowboys vs. Vikings rollcall.....

Yeah i think its three fold....

His self motivation is what separates the truly great players and the okay players because all these guys have talent - its just who wants to do the work to continue to elevate their game.....

The second factor though is that and its been discussed how much confidence that Favre has built into the young receiver....when you got a guy like favre telling you that you can be all world, it has to push you to be your best.....

And lastly, i've seen a lot of vikings games and the difference i see in the ball delivery is that favre puts the ball where rice and other receivers can go make a play....tavaris and i know he's young but his accuracy was horrible. When i was at the vikings/detroit game last year, he was getting booed because he had receivers open all over the place and he was skippin balls into the receivers instead of hitting them in stride.....he would have to make monumental strides in his accuracy to be considered a decent qb.......

One other dig on Tavaris as i saw it, as Favre threw td after td, when he came to the sidelines, i saw Sage and John over sitting with him going over the game shots and discussing the defense etc....tavaris never went over to him.....too bad, if the kid is going to elevate his game, learning from someone like favre is probably the best thing he could be doing....

The thing as a cowboys fan i gathered from watching the game yesterday and the highlights on espn was on Rice's two longest tds the cowboy defender could not have much better coverage on him and Favre just made Hall of Fame throws....thats why the guy is who he is and why the vikings wanted him so badly!!!!

In the history of the franchise, outside of any divisional rival, the most hated team is Dallas. The Pearson push-off is still brought up quite often. Not to mention the horrible call earlier on that drive where a pass was clearly caught out of bounds but called a catch. Add in the Walker trade, and watching the early 90s Cowboy teams dominate with our draft picks really burnt the fanbase bad. The 96 playoff game was horrible too, watching Emmitt Smith facemask a Viking player the final 20 yards into the endzone and then pull off his own helmet to celebrate the TD was too much.

Add in the media's love affair with all things Cowboy, and now you understand the motivation behind the Vikings hatred. It does not excuse it, but it does help explain it. Yesterday was an exorcism for a lot of demons as far as Vikings fans, and personal ones for Favre too. And yes, we loved the final touchdown, and no, we will not apologize for it, and yes Keith Brookings is a little *****.

joefrog, i had a long explanation and counterpoints to all your points, but, bottom line for me had nothing to do with the outcome.....honest...i went up with 4 vikings fans, and everyone around me was great we had a lot of fun.

But, justify it anyway you want, the small percentage of fans that were completely out of line reminded me of the out of line hawkeye fans we've all seen and encountered. I have no problem heckling, no problem what so ever. But on at least 4 occasions either to me or other cowboy fans there were near physical results by the actions of the Vikings fans - that to me is crossing the line.....

I wish minny all the success and hope they win it all so its obviously nothing to do with my dislike for the vikes......

I've distanced myself from a many of Cowboy fans for this exact reason. I dont think you can pinpoint a certain fan base and say, "theyre the worse because of this..." because every single fan base (even Cyclones) has those ********* fans that ruins it for the rest of us.

    100% agree.....

its the person, not the fanbase, not a team - its the people that just go too far....every fanbase has them, and it reflects badly on all the rest that were cool during the game.....

trust me i can handle getting and dishing out some banter, but, getting physical or in someones face is over the line....

    no two ways about it.....
