Cubs negotiating with Kiko Calero
The Cubs and free agent reliever Kiko Calero are in negotiations, reports Jon Paul Morosi of FoxSports.com. The righthander is seeking a two-year deal, though the Cubbies are holding firm at one year because of concerns about Calero's past shoulder injuries.
Calero has been connected to quite a few teams this offseason, however we haven't really heard about any hard talks until now. The 35-year-old Calero posted a 1.95 ERA in 60 innings for the Marlins last year, easily his best in the big leagues.

Hopefully they give him an incentive based deal. Knowing hendry, I'm expecting a 2 year 4 million dollar deal....

4 mil is to cheap.... 2 years 10 million..need to make sure noone can pick his contract up when he turns out to be a waste of money -
Re: Cubs negotiating with Kiko Calero
Morosi reported Wednesday that the Cubs were "engaged in negotiations" with free agent reliever Kiko Calero. However, he now says their interest has waned. A right-handed setup man is still a primary item on the Cubs' shopping list.

Re: Cubs negotiating with Kiko Calero
Cubs need to stop overpaying for borderline players. Its the reason they are in the mess they are in now, no payroll felixbility because of poor signings. Seems like every season they overspend on a guy like Aaron Miles who does nothing then you have to hope someone is desperate enough to take his contract.

Never sign a guy that has the same name as my grandma's cat.
Nobody but HB knows for sure. You pretty much know nothing....like Knownothing would like to say.
