Celtics coach leaning toward stepping down after year?
Doc Rivers is leaning toward leaving the Celtics after this season, the Boston Herald reports, but the coach says he has made no final decision about his future.
The Herald notes that Rivers likes to watch his children's athletic events, and he has a son and a daughter entering their final seasons as an Indiana basketball player and Florida volleyball player, respectively.
Rivers answered questions Tuesday about rumors that he might step down to spend more time with his family.
“Part of it is true,” Rivers said, according to the report. “Every year I sit down in the middle of the summer and I have a family discussion. We talk about what we want to do. That’s nothing new, but every year it gets stronger and stronger. And I think people are making some common sense reads. I’ve got three seniors next year, two in college and one in high school. That’s important to me. We’re all family men. We all have kids.

He should step down. That franchise is about to go into nuclear winter for about 3 years. Take a year or two off and come back to a fresh start.
