Re: Need a favorite baseball team
I'm a Cubs fan... it's awful... it hurts every year...
If I had to chose, I'd go with like the Braves, Twins or Rockies... all young, solid teams that will compete for a long time...

Re: Need a favorite baseball team
Do not pick any of the easy choices. You know, the teams with unlimited budgets and unlimited resources. The only time you are happy is when you win a World Series. This includes...
-Yankees
-Red Sox
-Dodgers
-Mets
-Braves
-Angels
Do not pick a local team. You will only be camouflaged with other fans of local teams. These include...
-Royals
-Twins
-Cubs
-White Sox
-Cardinals
-Brewers
-Rockies (borderline...you could get away with them in Iowa, not where I live in Nebraska)
Do not pick a "flavor of the month" team. I can really only see two teams in this list that have not already been mentioned.
-Rays
-Phillies
After all of this you are left with 17 teams to choose from. I would say you have a few teams that are bad "buy low" teams
-Astros...horrible, old team with terrible minor league system
-Blue Jays...stuck in a tough division...farm system not that good...they are Canadian
-Orioles...stuck in tough division
If I were to pick a few good "buy Low" teams these would be it for me:
-Nationals...once again have #1 pick in draft...lots of good young talent in minors
-A's...pitching is fantastic and they have a knack for being good every year
-Pirates...the firesale is over, they finally have a stocked minor league system with stars waiting
-Marlins...they have a stacked farm system and always cycle a World Series every six years or so

The Yanks haven't faired too well as of late.

I haven't seen anybody suggest them in this thread yet. Heck, I'm living in KC and I'm not even worried about that. I think I heard they drew like 8000 for a game a couple nights ago. Royals fans are few and proud! (disclaimer: I am not and have never been a Royals fan!)

Re: Need a favorite baseball team
STL Cardinals
All their games are on TV and on local radio
They are always good not always great
If you have a problem - if no one else can help - and if you can find
them - maybe you can hire: The A-Team. -
Re: Need a favorite baseball team
Go with the Twins. They develop their own talent and they love playing the game.

On top of it all, our owner openly hates the Yankees. In other words, Brewers games are nothing but a gigantic sausage fest... Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. -Angels Maybe you should think about that one a little more. I think Daniel Bard (1st round pick by Boston), Clay Buchholz (1st round pick by Boston), Manny Delcarmen (2nd round pick by Boston) , Jon Lester (2nd round pick by Boston), Jonathan Papelbon (4th round pick by Boston), Jason Varitek (Acquired in a trade as a prospect from Seattle), Dustin Pedroia (2nd round pick by Boston), Kevin Youkilis (8th round pick by Boston), and Jacoby Ellsbury (1st round pick by Boston) would like to disagree with your assessment that Boston simply buys players. They actually just do a better job then most in evaluating talent and then developing them into great baseball players at the Major League level.
