That's awesome, he got in some scuffles. That really elevates his basketball ability. I would like to see him go after Ron Artest. He would get his **** rocked.
Do I really need to go find highlight videos? Good lord, a highlight video of an NBA star that is impressive. I am shocked. I am positive none of those exist for players in todays game. I could just throw up Kobe dropping 82, that is sort of impressive.
I realize its a highlight vid, i was just pointing out that he was fairly athletic. Calm down bro, and yes Kobes 82 was the most amazing bball scoring output in history.
Honors: Elected to Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame (1998); NBA champion (1981, '84, '86); NBA Finals MVP (1984, '86); NBA MVP (1984, '85, '86); Nine-time All-NBA First Team (1980-88); All-NBA Second Team (1990); All-Defensive Second Team (1982, '83, '84); NBA Rookie of the Year (1980); One of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History (1996); Olympic gold medalist (1992).
I would like to change my opinion, Bird couldnt hang with todays players. I mean, look at the sad sacks he played against. What a bunch of non athletic jokes. They wouldnt stand a chance against Kevin Durrant and Melo.

You sure Christian Laettner wasn't photoshopped into the pic?
Larry Bird would DOMINATE in today's game. He has a game like no other player out there and he was a fierce competitor. I'd imagine he'd be a lot like Kevin Durant is... but better.
As a Larry Bird fan I was at first offended at your claim that Larry Bird wouldn't be a top 5 player in the NBA today but then I remembered how boring the NBA is today and how exciting it was in the 80's and early 90's. You're still wrong though. I just don't care.
It is tough to compare players from one era to another. That said, having grown up watching Larry Bird play in the MVC and the NBA, the only player that is in the same league as him when the game is on the line is Kobe Bryant. I'm not talking about the kind of plays that are showcased on sportscenter, I'm talking about crunch time. I haven't mentioned Jordan because I believe he was in a different class completely. Again tough to compare players from different times, could Unitas stack up, Maris? Who's to say?
One thing I wouldn't do, is compare players that haven't won a title to Bird, that would be like saying George Gervin was in the same class as Magic and Bird.

You can't win titles by yourself in basketball. Kobe didn't do it, MJ didn't do it, in fact I cannot think of a team that won a title because of their best player or superstar.
I would say that the same people that say he wouldn't be as good today are the same (type of) people that didn't think he was that good when he was dominating the NBA. Some people just will never admit how good he was because he was a "white hick"...
I doubt anyone else would care about this, however I was reading a thread in my other favorite board that had to do with Larry Bird and how he was great. The thread turned into how Larry Bird was good for back then but wouldnt be top 5 player today. These people are rediculous, I thought some of you would like to read some of the most ignorant sports related things Ive heard in my life.
You can say he same things about most past generation greats of most sports. Would babe ruth produce the same results today? We have new training methods and 'substances' that have increased our athletic performance as the decades go on.
Larry Bird could have just been a name picked out of a hat to use as an example.
(in my opinion)
This is my sarcasm pirate. There are many like it but this one is mine.
He is basically Dirk with a handle and point guard vision.
Also, don't forget, if he was playing today, his body would be more impressive, with all the weight training players do today vs back then. (did I manage to say that without sounding gay?)
