How much does DLee have left in him?
I love the guy, but it might be just as well to trade him while you can still get something in return. And what's left on his contract as well? Is he up this year or next?
I was hoping they would dump both Lee and Zambrano (mostly Zambrano) for the last couple years while they were still highly desirable. I'm fine seeing Lee go, I can only take him swinging late/through another 89 mph fastball right down the middle so many times....
Say no to the Hoff. He can't even hit AAA pitching this year.
For the rest of this year a Tracy/Nady combo would be good enough.
I'm guessing Aramis isn't opting out of his contract now so I'd move him to first to make it easier on his body and either Vitters is ready or we sign a FA 3rd baseman.
Hoffs OPS is .710. Not is OBP (which is only .327). I initially made the same mistake, and never really heard of OPS before either.
Too bad for Micah. He was killing it down here 2 seasons ago, then spent most of last year languishing on the bench in Chicago. Hasn't been the same since.
Cubs need to do something with this team because it's not a playoff team right now by standing pat. Lee and Ramirez are killing the offense right now, I think Lee's contract is up at the end of this season? Ramirez has an option too I think. Time to see what the young guys can do. Colvin is a bad situation, all he does is hit well and play good defense but too many contracts in the OF. Soriano is untradable with his contract, Byrd is too valuable and has a reasonable contract so can't trade him so their only hope is someone will take Fukudome and the Cubs eat some of the contract if they are ever going to play him every day.
Tracy can play 1B and is hitting well in Iowa, he's a short term solution though. Cubs need to find a way to shed some contracts and start seeing what some of the young guys can do. Problem is even in Iowa some of their best players right now are outfielders. Fuld has got some shots in Chicago already, Brad Snyder played some with the Indians but this James Adduci kid is an up and comer and is hitting well but again all outfielders and you see just how much Colvin plays now...
If we trade D-Lee, can we move Soriano to 1B? It might suit his range, and he doesn't always have to do a ton over there.
Plenty of older outfielders have made that move.
