Explain this trade to me
Oklahoma City Thunder traded:
32nd overall pick
Miami Heat traded:
Daquan Cook (due $2.2 Million)
and
18th overall pick http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/201...html?eref=sihp
not exactly a fair trade.
I hate it when teams just trade stuff for nothing just to clear cap space.

Makes perfect sense. Clear cap space. Keep D-Wade and pick up one of the many other superstar free agents.

I know but I just feel that trades at least appear to be equal.

Re: Explain this trade to me
Half the teams in the NBA are broke/losing money and some are even being given loans from the league.
The biggest problem with the NBA is that bad owners/GMs are allowed to continue to overpay for mediocre/bad talent. That's why teams would rather have expiring contracts or lower draft selections, to clear space. That's why I never blame guys like Eddy Curry, Derrick Coleman and Jerome James for getting paid the money they do and then tanking. It's not their fault some dumb *** in a front office threw such an enormous contract at them.

OP - Miami clears 3.4mil in cap space to put them around 43mil and only 3 players under contract. This according to ESPN, gives them enough money to sign 3 max players (doubtful; more than likely they want wade, max, superstar not worth max and use the extra room for a better surrounding cast.)
There's been lots of rumors lately about mutual interest between teams taking on beasley, jones, and some of the 4 draft picks in order for the Heat to move into the lottery so this trade could also be a set-up somehow for that. I think it's the first scenario tho.
This trades fair, you just have to look into it.
Riley has worked out a ton of players projected in the lottery to around their past 18th pick. So maybe didn't like the players that were projected around their 18th and decided it's more useful to use it on money to get proven talent or again, get someone in the lottery.

I thought it was a good move. How cool would it be to see LBJ, D-Wade and Bosh on the same team next year? I know highly unlikely, but would be a force to be messed with.
