A lot of other good QBs on the list that benefited from the strength of their teams (Staubach) or their perfect fit for a system (Brady).

Marino did have some absolutely killer seasons early in his career.

Joe Montana is and always will be the best ever. Proven winner and champion. He led his team to four Super Bowl victories, including the trouncing of Elway's Broncos in 1990. He retired with a quarterback rating of 92.3 and threw exactly zero interceptions in four Super Bowls.

farve shouldn't even be in the top 10, he has cost his teams as many championships as he has won. Mind numbingly stup QB. Always has been and this last year is how I hope he goes out. Not to mention he is a complete ***. I would rather my team lose with ryan leaf than win with farve anyway. He is classless, cocky and only happy when all eyes are on him.

As a long time Broncos fan I, of coarse, chose Elway. But really, when you watched him play you knew that everytime he was under center that there was a chance he could score. I have never watched another QB that I had as much confidence in, it made watching the game a lot less stressful, you just knew he would find a way to win.

Montana is my favorite player off all time. I think Peyton is the best quarterback to play the position. His team this year was average and he took them to the Super Bowl. He gets his skill position players paid and in Pro Bowls.

Don't agree with best QB, but like the honorable mention. 60K+ yards in that arm. Statistically, very impressive.

    Marino.
The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Ray. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Ray. People will most definitely come.

If my team is better than the other team I'll take Montana or Starr. If the other team is better I'll take Elway.

I understand the sentiments, but must be clear, not a viking fan. Never liked farve and never will. He is trash on and off the field.

For the record Montana was the best I've ever seen. I knew it was the end of a legend when he went to KC and almost brough a tear to my eye to see his retirement and subsequent HOF induction. Class act all the way and active in lots of charities to boot as I recall.

liked elway, but He was not as clutch as Joe Montana. I completely agree that clucth is 3 MVPs and no interceptions in any of his superbowls. Huge wins. Yes he had talent around him, but So did farve, so did bradshaw, so did Jonny U. Respected Marino too, but again just don't think he holds a candle to Montana. This is coming from a Cowboys fan, too.

And My fellow boys fan. better be kidding with Aikmen. Really appreciated having Troy, but not even in the top 10 either. Maybe not in the top 20.

    Re: Best NFL QB Ever

People forget Elway would have owned a lot more records if Dan Reeves would of game planned around Elway. Instead he did it his way for 3 quarters then when they were losing. He would tell John to go to his thing. That is win John had to throw the ball a lot in the 4 th quater to try to come back. reeves never unleashed John till the 4th quater when a lot of time it was too late. To me that puts John Elway as the best. He took teams that did not have one HOF on it except him to 3 super bowls. That to me is pretty darn good. If he would of had a Mike Shanahan type coach to start with he would of won 5 super bowls in his career.

This is all well said. That is why I choose Montana as well.

Even with this so-called Top 10 list..... putting Warner's name on it was tough for me to do..... since no Steve Young, Johnny U, Broadway Joe, Aikman, Warren Moon, Phil Simms, Fran Tarkenton, etc...

If I had to pick with that last one....I would put Steve Young's name on there over Warner now. Following a legend in Montana....and still getting into the HOF...that is pretty impressive.

Montana's the best Football player ever just like Jordan is the best basketball player ever.

My 5-15 yr old self tells me so, so it is true.
