New USFL - Omaha Nighthawks

How do you think the new USFL will do this upcoming season? Also, anybody excited/interested in the Omaha Nighthawks? They have already signed Ahman Green and are playing at Rosenblatt their first season before the new stadium is finished.

I for one think that the new USFL might fair pretty good b/c they are playing from February - July in many cities that don't have other professional sports in that area. I am excited just b/c it is more football during the NFL off-season.

Any comments on this?

UFL - United Football League

They play a 10-week schedule from September to November. Games are Thu/Fri/Sat.

I finally started liking the Barnstormers since they are local but I don't think I will get excited over this in Omaha. Can't wait until that Feb game with a 20 below wind chill. That will rock.

So game is during the same time of season as NFL and College... Yup that makes it more exciting... Especially when college has games on Wed, Thurs, and Friday.

This league is a great idea. Last year there were players signed by NFL teams that were hurting with injuries. It gives some players a second chance to show their talents if they can't make a roster spot. They play during the same time for this reason. It isn't going to grab the nations attention, but with a local team in Omaha that will only play a few games it should be interesting. More interesting for big football fans than going to see the royals play imo.

I'm excited to drive 10 minutes to Rosenblatt to see them play. From the looks of their roster they should be a pretty good team.

They will be hailed as the "great" team of the USFL and after not doing squat, they will cry that they are upset over their financial position within the league and look for a different league to play in.

I agree with the idea of the league and it is great for players... And if I lived that close I would probably catch a game. But living in DSM, I can't see getting into it.

This is more comparable to the NBA D-league than the USFL. The USFL was trying to compete with the NFL for the big time players(Steve Young and others).

Already have plans to go to the first game. The rumor before Jamarcus Russell got arrested was he could be signing with Omaha. Now that there will really be zero NFL teams touching him, I'm guessing it happens.

Culpepper already signed with Sacramento. Should be a good, cheap form of entertainment.

I saw Patrick Ramsey on the roster awhile ago, but the last time I looked he wasn't. I don't know what happend, and haven't looked in a few weeks.

The UFL is different from the USFL which is supposedly starting back up in 2011. The UFL already completed one season.

Anyone remember the Newton Nitehawks? Probably more interesting then the Omaha Nighthawks.
