Who has won a ring by themselves?

Or, Kobe whined his way to getting Shaq out of town, then realized he needed help. Has he ever won without a dominant big man?
Neither has Lebron or Wade.

Pau is just as good as Bosh, maybe he didn't have as much hype then but that doesn't really matter. In the NBA superstars win titles, unless you have a superstar you don't win. The 2004 Pistons being the only exception in the last 30 years. The Lakers have two superstars, that's why they win, not because of their bench, which aside from Odom, is average at best. If Lebron does go to Miami, you will see a whole bunch of verterans looking for one last shot at a ring be lining up to except a minimum contract for one season.
Re: Death of the NBA... LeBron to Miami
I don't know why everyone's under the opinion that a potential LeBron/DWade/Bosh won't happen because the three of them can't hold their egos in check forever. Does that really matter? It's not as if these guys are being paired up forever. If these guys win 3 rings over the 5 years that they're together, does it really matter if they're rubbing each other the wrong way in year 5 and want to separate after that season? It's not as if teams are successfully built for the long run anymore anyway - teams are built to win championships NOW. People will deal with the 5 years and beyond 5 years from now.

I think it would work out fine. These three are all friends that have played on Team USA well together. Kobe and Shaq, not so much.
LeBron's so full of ****.
There's no way he willingly defers the scoring load nor does he let it remain "Wade's team." The man refers to himself as "King" for ****'s sake. I feel a meltdown of epic proportions coming in the next few years.
Re: Death of the NBA... LeBron to Miami
The death of the NBA, hardly. Like it has been posted a number of times there will still be some very tough teams. If this happens it just creates the most top heavy team in history, three max players taking less money and a bunch of min players. It would be interesting to see just how good or great they will be.
To add another team to the mix, if was Amare said was at all true with Melo and Parker/Paul are ready to join him after the next season, look out. A Melo, CP3, and Amare team would be a nice rival of LBJ, Bosh, and DWade, that we could watch for the next 4-5 years and a huge rivalry like that esspecially including the Knicks would be huge for the NBA.
All and All if he joins the Heat I'm guessing that it's only for 3 years to get some rings, then he will join the Nets and play in Brooklyn like he has always wanted.

I guess we'll see. I see it working out fine and all three stars getting what they want. Let's save this for about 3 years down the road... IF this actually happens. He's still got 12 hours to change his mind.
Re: Death of the NBA... LeBron to Miami
Kobe guards Dwade
Artest guards Lebron
Pau guards Bosh
Who guards Bynum? Odom?
That Miami team would be tough as hell but they would be beatable

Don't forget Morrison.

Exactly, those 2 can win rings with an average bench, average pt guard and a decent center. Why try and make a super team when other teams can do it with less? Just looks bad on their part in my opinion.

I would imagine you would just get a defensive stopper type of veteran to play center on Bynum. a Kurt Thomas type.

Would it "look bad" if they decided to all get together on the Bulls?
If James and Bosh had gone to Chicago, you could argue it would be equally stacked with 2 other first round picks on the roster, including #1 overall Derrick Rose.

Part of the reason LA has won the last two titles is because they have had Artest and Arizia to guard the other team's best perimeter scorer and take some work load off of Kobe. Now Kobe would have to spend all game chasing around Wade or LeBron, as for who guards Bynum, well if this is the finals he'll be hurt and it won't really matter and Odom will disappear for at least half the series so I wouldn't worry about him either.
Re: Death of the NBA... LeBron to Miami
Everyone is talking about keeping "egos" in check here. I really don't think that Bosh has ever shown that he has a big "ego." Am I wrong? The guy is a tremendous player....I remember him being a respectable representative of Team USA over in Beijing. I think Bosh is taking this opportunity to get out of a trap in Toronto....and decided to help out Wade in a great opportunity in Miami.
Does anyone have info on Wade having a big "ego?" I don't find him being in this category at all. The one that made all of this a circus was Lebron and freaking ESPN.
If we are talking about egos here....the MAIN one to look at is Lebron. He's the one that doesn't shake hands after defeat....he's the one that is haveing a freaking hour long press conference/event...... the guy has the biggest ego in sports.....bigger than Favre......well, close to Brett I guess.

Kobe isn't a 1st team all NBA defender every single season for no reason. He can guard just fine.
