The goal in any sport is to win a title not just be close. Why take a step back when you dont need to? Look at oklahoma city right now, the have Kevin durant and around him is the youngest team in the nba. They had Cap space and didnt go out and try and sign anyone because they are building their team to make a run at several rings not just one or 2 but several. Mark my words its going to be thunder bulls finals in a couple of years.

Fine? Not quite. As much as I love the Bulls the reality is that they aren't going to get passed the Heat in the playoffs and I also doubt they would get by the Magic. Boozer is a solid pickup but to say a guy like Korver or Reddick will get them over the hump is just ridiculous.

I really hope that the Thunder are able to keep all their pieces in place to make that happen, but that require a lot of players and management to go against the NBA norm. It would be really sweet to see a small market team develop and retain their own stars and role players and become a perennial contender.

They're is a huge gap between being a good team like the Thunder are and winning a title, just ask LeBron. When you have a chance at a title you have to take it, not sit back and hope every thing goes according to your plan.

The bulls right now can make the playoffs, they are missing 2 things. Low post scoring, and shooting, now they have solved the low post scoring issue so they are going after shooters. which would fill the other void. Adding a couple of shooters would complete them as a team, so when you play as a whole team you have a damn good chance to beat anybody in the league. Im not saying lebron wouldnt of helped this team i am just saying they didnt necessarily need him. This team adds a couple of shooters and im thinking they will be solid and with the defensive mind that the new coach has i wouldnt doubt the bulls this season, not one bit. You have to get past that he is the one of the best players in the league and actually look at what your team needs to win. they dont really need a ball hog superstar they can win just as many games with a solid shooter or 2 -

I don't think they will get by either of those teams, but I think their off season can still be called a success. They got rid of a bad contract in Hinrich, they got a big time player in Boozer who will nicely compliment Noah. They are a better team now then they were last season and they are still in good shape cap wise.

So is miami going to get by the lakers? i dont really think they will. i mean match up wise the lakers match up pretty damn well.

No real superstars (maybe Rose), but just an extremely solid top-to-bottom team, with no outstanding weaknesses and great chemistry.

Thats the mindset i have, they are just solid at every position and thats what the bulls are trying to do. Solid guard solid shooting solid big men and great defense

If Kobe and Shaq could get along, if Karl Malone hadn't creeped out Kobe's wife, if Gary Payton wasn't nuts that Pistons team never happens.

Re: The chicago Bulls will be fine
The scenarios you are putting up are all fine for a regular season run, but we all know the NBA is completely different come playoff time. The current Bulls team in a best of 7 format will not have a chance against star laden teams. It sucks, but reality usually does.
Now I know you are going to say that Rose is of superstar caliber, which he very possibly could develop into one, but the last team that won a championship with the PG as their top player would be the '90 pistons with Isiah Thomas (And also Joe Dumars who is in the HOF, but really, who's counting).
