Royals willing to listen to trade offers for Greinke

The Royals don't consider anyone on their roster untouchable, according to several baseball executives.

If they trade him they better get a whole lot for him.

They certainly would... also think they should at least consider dealing Soria. Don't make either deal unless they are blown away, but it is always worth keeping an open mind.

Unfortunately DeJesus is out for the year after last night, as he was one of the hottest names on the trade market. Will be nice to have him back next year though (most likely).

the royals are the pirates of the NL. once your players get good..you trade them for minor league prospects to good teams. you guys can develop players but you cant get enough to together at one time to be any good

Actually, they have already signed Greinke and Soria to contracts that go beyond their free agent years. Take a look at the Royals minor league system, which is presently rated the best in baseball by many people... they have a window for success coming up, which is the blueprint for small market teams. Personally I really don't hope we deal Zach but he has 2 years left on his contract, and it is usually better to deal a good player than let him go to free agency and get nothing for him (if you can't sign him, of course).

The twins would have to trade about 9 of the 10 top prospects if they want Greinke considering they're in the same division as the Royals.

The Royals are listening on everyone, including Greinke and Soria. Doesn't mean they actually want to trade them, but they have to consider all options.

If you are talking about a truly impact player, it would probably be Carlos Beltran in 2004. Royals fans will cringe when reminded of this deal because we got such a stellar return in Mark Teahen, John Buck, and Mike Wood. Yay! Of course, Beltran went bat-**** crazy in the playoffs for the Astros that fall to the tune of .435/.536/.1.022 with 8 HRs in 46 ABs. It's really too bad that Beltran's knees have hobbled him so severely with the Mets because he's just an amazing player to watch when healthy.

That being said, I'm sure Dayton Moore is willing to listen to an offer for any player on the roster. But Greinke and Soria are both signed to such team friendly deals that the Royals have no incentive to move them unless some other GM is willing to give up the farm.
