Phillies land Roy Oswalt
For JA Happ and two other minor league prospects.
Good trade for Philly, obviously. I'm REALLY hoping (as a Cardinals fan) that the Phils somehow fail to make the playoffs because they'd be a handful to deal with. Of course, St. Louis still has plenty of work to do to get there, but you know what I mean.

Re: Phillies land Roy Oswalt
The Phillies have been the dominant NL team for the last two years, and have been on a tear since replacing Milt Thompson with Greg Gross as their hitting coach a week ago.
Now with Oswalt aboard, make that three years in a row.

If they do make the playoffs and the field includes San Diego, San Francisco, and Atlanta I think St. Louis has a good chance to be the best team of those four because of how good our 1-2-3 is in the rotation.
I really believe our 4/5 starters are holding us back, and holding us back a lot. Besides, once you reach the playoffs, anything can happen. Coming from a Cardinals fan I'm surprised to see you say this. Do you remember 2006? We were likely the worst team there, record-wise and such.

Combination of last year and being spoiled from being the class of the division for a while I guess.

StL was 56-48 at this exact position last year and took off once they got Holliday. We just have Cincinnati to contend with this year, that's why it appears as if our team has struggled so much. I think they're yet to play their best baseball consistently (Sure they had that winning streak, but have struggled again since) and hopefully a move of some sort will give them a spark.
