You are Fired
Heat sell out season tickets, fire sales staff - CBSSports.com
Have a good time. We do not need you.
In a statement, the team confirmed the terminations Friday afternoon, saying that with an "exhausted'' inventory of season-tickets "we no longer require a season ticket sales team to sell tickets.'' Stephen Weber, vice president of sales, delivered the news to about 30 ticket sales people Friday morning, according to the story from the Miami Herald. Currently, the team's waiting list has more than 6,000 names on it. It's pretty evident that at this point, the Heat can sell tickets without even trying.
"They let us go because there was really nothing left to do anymore,'' a fired staffer told the Herald.
Looking forward to CFH magic for the next bball season, Georges style. -

So Lebron is not only a great player, but he also saves you money!

Re: You are Fired
Wow, so Lebron leaves cleveland a mess and now is starting to ruin the economy and job market in Miami...

Re: You are Fired
Unbelievable !
I wonder whether the Green Bay Packers and New York Giants don't have sales team too ?

Re: You are Fired
It's not an unclassy move, it's the reality of the situation. If you employ people whose job is to sell season tickets, and you have a wait list a third the size of your capacity, you simply do not need those positions. I'm sure the team looked into shifting employees into different roles (ticket relations and customer service, etc.), but there are only so many people needed to meet those needs.

Alot of those, and maybe all of them are comissioned based jobs anyway, if there is nothing to sell there is no, or little money to make. That kind of job in a sports team is low paying or plain commision.

Yeah, when it says their position was terminated, I doubt they moved these employees into different roles.

The lesson is, never do your job to the best of your abilities.

Clearly most here have never run a business. They spent money on a team that doesn't need salesmen in order to sell tickets, so why should they keep them on?

If you have a rockstar employee, you're going to see where else you can fit them within the organization. With that said, and as I pointed out above, there were likely few if any such positions available. When your demand for tickets blows skyhigh, the demand for those with sales skills disappears.

It's still classless.
"Hey, our ticket demands increase so many fold and you processed all of the sales, and we made a lot of money off it. Now, you're fired."

If people aren't working, they're costing you money. You're putting money into them (wages) and getting no output (production).
