What state has had the least pro sport sucess?

In terms of pro sport achievements in the last 5 years, what state has been the poorest at fielding good teams? Off the top of my head it seems like the answer would be Washington. The Mariners haven't made the playoffs in almost 10 years. The Seahawks were decent 3-5 years ago, but have been pretty bad the last couple of years. The Sonics left town a couple of years ago. And on top of that Washington and WSU have combined for a 34-86 record in the last 5 years.

Last 5 years means you have to include the Seahawks Super Bowl (played in 2006). I think this automatically disqualifies Seattle.

BTW I'm a huge Mariners and Sonics fan.

I don't know about the last 5 years, and this is a city, not a state, but Cleveland gets my nod. The Indians, the Browns then to top it all off King James and the Cavs.

But we have the Cedar Rapids Kernels! I don't know much about the Iowa Cubs but the Kernels are pretty solid.

I'm assuming that these states have to actually have professional sports in them. Also, do you have to have more than one? (i.e. Oregon only has the Trail Blazers, Oklahoma only has the Thunder.) So, with that being the case you have to go with Georgia. The Braves have been bad for about 5 years...obviously better this season...the Falcons have always been lackluster....and the Hawks have been in the playoffs but when they play the "good" competition in the East...they got worked. So Georgia could be a good candidate. Are the Thrashers good in Hockey? (I'm trying to do this without looking anything up.)

New Jersey: Nets have been horrid. The Devils? Are they bad now? Or just not as good?


Ohio would be in the mix only if Lebron wasn't with the Cavs all these past couple of years.....Browns suck, Indians suck, Reds are alright this year but have sucked for about 10 years, Bengals have recently started to get a bit better... and still, the Cavs choked in every playoffs they have been a part of.

While the are currently in 1st, the last time they won anything was 1993.

Barnstormers have never won anything.

The Iowa Energy have never won anything.

The Iowa Chops/Stars have never won anything.

Granted all teams have made the playoffs somewhat recently.
