Seneca Wallace - Browns QB
Here is to hoping Seneca gets a fair shot to become the starting QB for the Browns. Does anyone think that he will have a good chance? I hope he plays well in pre-season and Holmgren gives him some props. Or will Delhomme just get the benefit of the doubt? I mean, this has to be IT for Seneca to become a starter. He has to have a sweet camp and good stats in the pre-season games.
My call, is that Delhomme will be the starter right out of the gates, struggle yet again early and Seneca gets the nod in Week 3. It would be great to see him take the Browns to a respectable level this season at least.
Delhomme, is washed up. I hope Seneca gets the nod. Or, will they go with McCoy?
Come on Seneca! Cyclone Nation is behind you. http://espn.go.com/blog/afcnorth/pos...-for-nfl-debut Switching to #6 I mean, do the Browns want this guy to "manage" the season? Cry-baby.

Re: Seneca Wallace - Browns QB
Well, Holmgren isn't the head coach, but he does give Seneca tons of props. He loved him in Seattle and is the reason Seneca is there. So if it's up to Holmgren, I'm confident he'll get a fair shot at it.

Re: Seneca Wallace - Browns QB
I would think the Browns would like to save Colt for next year - but the fans will be restless.
Delhomme is hurting ... not sure why they signed him, seems like there would be better options. I kind of see your scenerio though ... 3-4 crappy weeks of Jake ... then the 6-7 average weeks of Seneca... then Colt gets pummelled for the last par tof the season.

Re: Seneca Wallace - Browns QB
Is it me or is Delhomme just like the typical player just like Hasselbeck? Given way too many chances? Have had some nice seasons no doubt...but more aweful seasons than good? Then they just get the benefit of the doubt....and start. It just seems that SW is just in the same situation as before. Just bad timing?

Re: Seneca Wallace - Browns QB
I expect Delhomme to start, McCoy to be inserted if the season goes (expectedly) sour.
But I'd like to see what Seneca could do with a full season as No. 1 guy (maybe Cleveland would be a bad place to test this, in the current situation).
Same thing with Sage.
I'm biased, of course. -

Here is another story involving Seneca: Browns and the "wildcat" or "cyclone formation." Josh Cribbs and Seneca Wallace could give the Cleveland Browns' offense needed spice - ESPN
But I hope that is not all Seneca gets to do for Cleveland. I hope he has some serious time at QB this pre-season.

I'm biased, of course. I agree with this. I'd love for Seneca to get a shot, but I just don't see it happening in Cleveland. Yes, Cleveland brass has said that they don't want to have Colt start this year, but if Delhomme can't hack it, the fanbase will be far more in favor of putting in the hot new QB prospect and giving him a shot than they will for putting in a career backup. With the recent success of rookie QB's in the NFL, minds are being changed about how long to groom young quarterbacks. Seneca will be fighting an uphill battle to get the starting job.

Notice this little tid-bit in there as well:
"Knowing that Cleveland needs another pass-rusher, it's possible that the Browns could use Ahtyba Rubin at nose tackle and Rogers at defensive end. But wherever he plays, Rogers will be under the influence of Holmgren.
