Re: Slowey no-hitter thru 7
Not so fast. Pulled after 106 pitches.
Final line: 7 IP, 0 H, 3 BB, 5 Ks
He missed his last start to a sore elbow, Gardenhire not taking any chances.

Re: Slowey no-hitter thru 7
With the exception of that Perkins outing, Twins pitching has been ON lately. Loved that 3-hit shutout by Duensing last nite...

He missed his last start to a sore elbow, Gardenhire not taking any chances. This better be a joke. You can't pull somebody who's throwing a no-no.

You can, if you are trying to win the world series.

Re: Slowey no-hitter thru 7
Fair enough but if he's that sharp I'd be led to believe he's doing just fine and if he begins to struggle, I'm sure maybe just one base hit will follow.

It took him 106 pitches to get through 7 innings. In the 7th inning, he walked a guy and hit a guy and got bailed out by a double play. He wasn't exactly sharp.

He had just walked a guy on 4 pitches, hit the next batter, then a rocket to 3rd base but a nice defensive play for an inning ending double play.
Would have liked to see him go after the no-no, but can understand the decision.

Now the A's got two runs. If we lost this game Gardy is going to look bad.

Nice no-win situation you put Gardy in. Yeah, he's the bad guy for taking someone out with a no-hitter, but he threw 106 pitches through 7 innings and has a history of arm problems. Better to be the bad guy for taking a guy out than to let him keep pitching and risk him blowing his arm up. It hurts, but Gardy made the right move.

Re: Slowey no-hitter thru 7
"I was encouraged by the way it was presented to me. I was encouraged by the fact that Gardy and (pitching coach Rick Anderson) care a whole lot about me as a person and as a pitcher in the long term than they do about winning one game or having one accomplishment. I think that says a lot about them, and it says a lot about our organization." -Slowey
