Minnesota Twins are nothing more than mediocre
Can not beat the New York Yankees.
Can not beat the Boston Red Sox.
Can not beat the Tampa Bay Rays.
Can not beat the Texas Rangers.
They can beat everybody else, but they can not beat the teams (I should say team) they'll have to face in the playoffs. They'll be one and done as always in the playoffs. If they're lucky to even hold this 3.5 game lead.
162 games for it to all be over in 3.

Re: Minnesota Twins are nothing more than mediocre
I'm sure there are 24 other teams that would gladly switch places with the Twins after the 162 games are over.

WTF, the Twins will get it done. I still have a truck load of hope for them in the post season. Now turn that frown up side down. -

But the Twins have had so much success in the last decade in making the playoffs. That going one and done at this point is a failed season. 5 AL Central titles since 2002. All they have to show for it is one playoff series win, and that came in 2002. It appears the same result is headed the Twins way in 2010.

Re: Minnesota Twins are nothing more than mediocre
Playoffs are crapshoot, anyone can beat anyone in a 5 game series.

162 games for it to all be over in 3. I personally think the Reds are the same way. They haven't proven (at least, that I know of) the ability to beat good teams and especially teams with good pitching. They hit the crap out of mediocre and below pitchers but any good pitcher that comes along just locks them down. Now, their ability to hit all of those mediocre pitchers will help them reach the playoffs most likely, but I don't see them having a chance to do anything once they get there. And that's seriously the truth, from what I have noticed. Originally Posted by gocubs2118 Playoffs are crapshoot, anyone can beat anyone in a 5 game series. This is true, to a degree. But without a doubt some teams have major advantages. Teams with top of the line 1-2-3 pitchers in the rotation have a huge advantage over a team (like the Twins and Reds IMO) that has decent starters 1-5 but no clear-cut aces on top. Those teams can reach the playoffs, no problem, but aren't set up well once they get there.

162 games for it to all be over in 3. 2-4 vs NYY
3-5 vs TB
2-3 vs BOS
3-3 vs TEX
10-5 vs SOX(if your including Boston, the Sox should be included)
Are these the records you'd hope for, no. They don't show some inablilty to win against good teams though. You need to calm down about losing 3 close games in a row, especially these last 2 the Rangers got a few breaks, the Twins didn't, life goes on and you should still be reasonably high on the Twins chances.

Re: Minnesota Twins are nothing more than mediocre
Um.....they SWEPT the Rangers earlier this season. They won a series against boston, have won 2 of 6 against the Yankees and recently split a series with Tampa. Not dominating, but not futile either.

Re: Minnesota Twins are nothing more than mediocre
Please.
Go root for a different team. The Yankees and Red Sox games were all early season, they are playing much better ball now. They recently took 2 of 4 AT Tampa. And they have lost two of these Ranger games by 1 run (season series is still tied 3-3). AND they are doing this all with an MVP on the bench in Morneau.
Did you recently switch from a Cubs fan? We don't want you.

Re: Minnesota Twins are nothing more than mediocre
I always say this about the Twins. (And I really HATE the Twins since I am a Sox fan.) They usually have a nice season...but when it comes to the post season, they get worked. Especially playing the Yankees. Making it all feel like a big waste of time. Hopefully the White Sox will get back into the lead soon. It is still a tight race as we speak. Let the White Sox in for the Central to mix it up and show you how it's done Twinkies.
It's still within reach Sox, go get it! Go White Sox!!!

Usually is the key word... the Twins haven't had a roster this complete in a long time.
