    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

Not scared of anything, just pointing out the difference. Paradox was tongue in cheek; most all of us know the how and whys. My father in law lives on near 15th ave and my wife grew up in Wellington Heights. I know what it's like during the day and night. Am I afraid to walk around there...

    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

They are, but they suck at it. Little to no market research and they are actively separating themselves from the reputation that made them popular in Iowa/Midwest. The friendly smiles thing is hokey, but it works. I don't know anyone who gives a rat's ass about Wahlberg or cares to eat his...

    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

It should be called the 19th street paradox.

    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

There is no chance that Aldi's take over that location or anywhere near it. Hy-Vee has shot itself in the foot too many times to feel sorry for them, and there are many good people living in the vicinity, but at the same time, that location is filled with many of societies' failures. Even...

    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

Damn, I'd blocked out that memory. As a poor college kid I would sometimes shop there. Like a poor man's Aldi's. Weird brand names you'd never seen before and product availability was seemingly random. We felt like rich people when we shopped at the (then) new Econofood's on 52nd street.

    Hy-Vee's weirdest business decision yet?

Which makes me wonder if this is a precursor to getting them from the city again. The store is a ********, and a more competitively priced store would be a better option, but if that HyVee does close, watch how quickly a family dollar and a few more "convenience" stores pop up in the area...

This thread had some real potential before you hosers went off the deep end on the pizza cutter debate.

    ***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

One part stupid, two parts lazy. She didn't want to go around or find another way, so she chanced it. 9/10 times that's why people cross water. They don't feel like going around.

Large Area of Iowa in Extreme Drought.

Not to completely off-track this thread, but supposedly there are many farmers in Nebraska who run their pivots non-stop for months due to lack of rain. I can't comprehend how much water gets pulled from the Ogalalla each planting season.

Large Area of Iowa in Extreme Drought.

There is a man made pond off 30th street drive that I use as an indicator because he lined it with black tarp before filling it. When ever I see the edges of the black tarp, I know it's very dry. Right now it's still probably 2 feet short of covering the tarp.

    MLB: ***2024 Minnesota Twins***

How bizarre was that? I've seen people with the yips before, but he just lost the ability to throw the ball. I would have felt sorry for him if he hadn't kinda burned bridges on his way out.

Iowa High School BEDS count 24-25

That's still mostly true; most of the old money kids have graduated but their parents remain in the district. So they get no support and its boundaries prevent any growth.

Iowa High School BEDS count 24-25

Wash is a lot of "I'd like to help you, but I have too many other problems right now" It's sad watching its demise, even from before the pandemic. The school boundaries are already completely ridiculous to slow Kennedy's enrollment from increasing so quickly and to prevent Wash's from cratering.

Iowa High School BEDS count 24-25

CR Wash continues a slow death by geographic constraint. Meanwhile, Linnmar kids are driving nearly 10 miles to school when Wash is less than half the distance away.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

What really cracked me up was watching all the lawn companies out applying product to people's lawn in March when the ground was still partially frozen. They have more customers than employees available to properly serve them, so you get poorly timed applications.

    ***2024 Minnesota Vikings***

It feels like he's been anointed as the next great QB in the NFL since his freshman year at OU. He's physically gifted, but wouldn't surprise me to see him follow the Zach Wilson path especially with the Bears coaching staff.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

Very pushy with questionable results in my opinion. I have an issue with them though because they laid down a grub treatment without my authorization and then wanted $300 from me. After I dropped them, they hounded me for almost 2 years to come back. They must hire thousands of sales people.

Fertilizing my lawn for initial spring application

I have a county road, his drainage easement and mine, separating our property, yet they still find their way over to my yard. Another reason to hate all this wind.
