leaves coming in on trees is another possibility. I used to live in heavily wooded area, in the winter I was fine, but as soon as the trees leaved out, my signal was toast.

Executives use corporate jets all the time for personal trips and then reimburse. Its very common practice and fully acknowledged by the IRS, etc. As long as they acknowledge and treat those trips differently tax-wise, then all is good.
