Suggest a portion of the site for rumors and rumopr mongers. In fact blatant vioators vcan be relegated to that island.

Then next to each major rumor, the Moderator can put a stamp RUMOR/UNCONFIMED. When people read these rumors, they may turn out to be false fabrications by Big Red and EIU fans from their boards. By denoting as a potential RUMOR, this clears the air quickly.
