How many stages of rep are there? And what do they all say?

Re: New Rep System
Taking away the ability to comment would be a good solution to negative rep, or a simple up vote/down vote. I agree that the bars have kind of outlived their usefulness.

Re: New Rep System
Make it like a digg/reddit up and down vote rep system. Or you can do the "Thanks" thing some forums do. It shows how many times you have thanked people and how many times you have been thanked and the number of posts.
Here is a screenshot of my side profile (under the avatar) at a forum that uses that method: -
Re: New Rep System
I think negative rep would work if it wasn't anonymous.
When it was totally anonymous, people would just neg rep for fun and it didn't really fullfill its purpose. When you have to put your name by it, people will think more about giving negative rep.

Re: New Rep System
I'm more curious to see the amount of rep that people have given out. I want to know who the stingy bastards are.

^ LOL, that avatar is awesome.

Re: New Rep System
Why do people care about rep so much? Are there really people on this site who look at that bar and go, "Oooo...he must really know what he's talking about!"?
I basically just like it as a way to let people know you liked what they posted and occasionally feed my ego with a little validation for myself.

It's fun to see someone go from one dot to full in the click of a mouse. I can admit that I enjoy seeing that. Otherwise, the dots don't matter.
