Not covering the short pass and running a dive play up the middle when eight men are in the box is very frustrating. With Meyers experience he should be able to audible out of it or recognize that the play is not going to work and call a time out. This frustrates me to no end constantly. You would expect the coaches to correct these deficiencies yet they still remain.
You really think attendence is something you shouldn't get worked up about???
Much of our revenue comes from attendance. You can’t tell me that the 2004 Missouri game where we are playing to go to the Big 12 Championship and had like 40,000 people there is no big deal…
Do you think the players/recruits/coaches like to see that? Every wants us to get to the next level but when we have a chance to do it, they don’t go to the games. And I’m obviously not talking about the majority of the people on this website because they DO go to the games. There is no reason we can’t sell out a season opener for a season with a lot of hype. And I don’t want to hear the excuses: It was Thursday, Labor Day weekend, blah blah blah. Everyone EXPECTS great things from the football team this year, we should at least EXPECT to fill up a glorified mid-major school stadium.
The attendance disappointed me more than the many mistakes we made. Our fans suck.
Unfortunately, many people are made to believe that they are wrong for being Iowa State fans. All of the propoganda in this state is slanted heavily toward Iowa, and they make it seem that we have to be out of our minds to be Iowa State fans. I live in Waterloo, and all of my sports fan friends are Iowa fans. They belittle Iowa State, because that is what they were brought up to do.
That's why Pollard excites me, because he is going in the face of all of this conventional wisdom, and saying "we're here, and you need to deal with us." The billboard in Cedar Rapids is corny, but it sends a message.
Iowa fans are really just coming to grips with this so they fire out the standard "little brother" lines as a defense mechanism. You can tell that Iowa State is becoming more of an issue with them.
