Re: Rep power

So you're saying that the top 1% gets yet another tax break

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

I think 1 rep point should be worth 100,000 credits but thats me.....

Re: Rep power

My "formula" would involve rep and post count.

As in, people with a higher rep per post count would receive more credit benefits than those with a lower rep per post count.

I have a ton of rep, yet have a ton of posts as well - so my ratio would surely be lower than some.

Re: Rep power

Wouldn't this "de-value" the credit? That is, if the credit was worth anything anyways?

Oh... people will come Mr. Pollard. People will most definitely come.

No, I don't live in Seattle anymore, I'm back in Des Moines but I don't feel like changing my username.

Yes.

I am in favor of making a change to rep and don't oppose it impacting credits - yet a significant bump in credits via the rep change would have a negative impact on the credits, IMO.

Ah, the rep debate. It had been a while.

I personally think it's fine - the point of the system is just to give recognition to people when you like something they have to say. I think it's also a nice way to welcome people or show your appreciation - I give out a TON of rep on any given day because I think it's a nice way to recognize someone. I haven't given out negative rep in about a year and a half.

I personally think the system is fine - it is what it is, a random numeric value on an anonymous internet message board. (I partially say this because I remember the karma debacle of last fall.)

Re: Rep power

I think it should be some sort of continuum from one to five. If someone says something stupid, they get hammered down to 1, but only need 4 pos reps to get back up to the "good" side of the continuum.

Continuum labels could be:

1=Lamebrain
2=WTF?
3=Meh.
4=Neato
5=You Rock!

Just kidding, but you get the point.

Re: Rep power

Well, to make it fair to the lower & middle classes the highest 15% of credit holders should have to pay out a large precentage of their transfered rep/credits to us lower income folks.

Credit wagering is a disease man, its not my fault!

I vote for a rep flat tax. The repless should take individual responsibility for their replessness. Give a man some cycredits, feed his habit for a day, teach a man how to earn cycredits, feed him for a lifetime.

I just wanted to use that in a post, and this seems to be the closest I will ever get to having be "on topic" okay... maybe not.
