I will use this post as a test. When posting, all carriage returns are removed from my posts. My entire post runs together as one long paragraph. I will use this post as a test. Every sentence should be on its own line, with a blank line in-between. I have never noticed this until today, and when I went back to Edit a post, I noticed that it looked like a new "Edit Post" feature had been added. It will probably work now, since I took the time to post this. Here goes....

Any chance your User CP got modified? Go to User CP > Edit Options. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the Message Editor Interface. Mine is on "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing." Might want to check that. If you change it, make sure to scroll down and click "Save Changes."

I saved again anyway, just to be sure. It's really odd.. I see all of the HTML tags in what I quoted (border, alt, br, etc....), and I am not able to click on anything around the text box (smiley-face icons, bold/italic/underline, color, etc...) Everything works fine when I use IE. Very interesting. I'll keep playing around. Maybe I will uncover something that other users can look out for.

Ha - notice all the garbage that appears in my quote of Angie's response. Just another example of the oddness. This is a good one.

I use IE8 (the beta version) - that is fine for me, too. I wonder if there are any add-ons installed in Firefox that might be jacking it up?

I just logged out of CF, and logged back in, clearing cookies (no good reason why that should have done anything, but what the heck). I haven't installed any new FF plugins since my browser was working fine. Again, this just started today. I'll keep poking around.

At a quick glance, I can't find anything that would govern it besides the editor in User CP... I was thinking someone else had this problem a while ago, and it was something in there. I'll keep hunting, too.

OK - using IE again, so I can attach a screenshot.
My "Error Console" in FF shows all kinds of messages. The screen shot shows an error when I try to quote/reply to a post.
Note the URL in my browser, and the URL in the Error Console (same URL). There are a bunch of errors showing up in the console.

Argh... My image got squashed a little bit, so you'll have to trust me....
The URL in my browser is the same as the last URL in the Error Console. There are a bunch of other errors from CF as well.

Hmm.... I will see if any of my changes in the past 24 hours would cause any of it. I did do a complete revamp of the donation system and it does affect the rest of the site with some variables that load on every page, but I'll have to do some debugging to see if that could really be the cause.

I'm on 3.0.4, but I don't think it's any different.
I've had Firefox do it in the past, and I have no idea how/why it got fixed.
I'm posting this in a quick reply, using the "simple" editor (not WYSIWYG)
