I think the whole rep thing is kind of bogus. It's pretty stupid some of the things people give you negative rep for. I hope i don't get negative rep for this post.

That's nothing mike4cy. I'm a Chargers fan. 2 years ago Kaeding missed a game winning field goal in the Chargers last playoff game too! That's twice in a row now. The first time, I said what I thought of him, some may say disparaging, I say the truth. Well I got banned from CR for it. Never could figure that one out, banned from a Cyclone board because a rivals kicker sucks when it really counts..

Yesterday was especially rough for me because I wanted Hobbs to do well, but I also didn't want him to make any plays. They kept throwing to him and he did a fantastic job.

The whole rep thing is juvenile, don't worry about.

I got a negative rep for misspelling Coach Chizick's name. I forgot the 'Z'. Of course, it was from a non-nads annonymous poster. Dude is as lame as it comes.

I've already brought up a thread like this. My advice: don't go down this road because the topic has been beaten to death by now. People will still be cowards when they leave rep I've found out and the ones that do leave their name you just respect more for not hiding behind the system.

rep is extremely lame especially when you have nimrods who leave you bad rep without putting their name behind it. I type the same opinions I'll tell you to your face and when I leave rep, good or bad, my name is behind it. Then you get someone putting some dumb comment like "you're a *****, dumb post", or when we beat Missouri and there was a thread about it I posted that it was that much better because EIU lost, I got bad rep and the comment was "who cares". I do...or I wouldn't have posted it.

leave your name if you leave rep so you have some clout. bad rep without a name is no rep.

Be very nice to C. John, Angie and Amy and they will give you great rep - their rep is very large since they have 2000-4000 rep points. So to all the others who play soccer and have small rep, you can flame. You need to give rep to 10-20 others before you can come back to give rep to your favorite people. You can probably hand out 5-10 rep actions per 24 hours. Color of rep means positive or negative. Appears some people like to go around dinging people and other people are always being positive. Hope you do not receive negative rep comment from soccer people - that was only an example from above. I start at 899 rep so see what happens.

As a newcomer, I utilize it only as a predefined opinion of who I might be dealing with.

If somebody says something I consider outrageous or out of line, a good or bad rep would help me lend credence to what they said, or help in just defining them as an idiot/jerk/flamer.

Kinda like the rating on EBay. Beyond that, don't care much.

We have a successful demo. One of those three people mentioned above just increased my rep by 400. I will have to thank the person. Now remember, to get a good reputation, you have to be nice to people and make informative comments. Just ask the late discombubulated

I like your thoughts and wished it always worked that way. However, I often find that the posters with negative rep sometimes bring to the table the most interesting and value added posts. They offer different perspectives and write things that others shy away from that often needs to be said. It results in them getting negative rep points as their perspective or opinion is different then the majority.

Thus I would just caution people when leaving negative points to posters who you don't agree with. Not agreeing doesn't make it wrong. I would limit your negative rep points to people that are just rude or are here to just create problems, but never because you don't like someone else's opinion. When I read that people leave negative rep points for spelling errors that's pretty sad.

Anyways, I just encourage those that offer a different perspective to keep posting no matter how many negative rep points you may get as a result. It creates good discussions and keeps things interesting.
