If you don't care for CyBookie threads showing up, you can click on "Betting Board" on the left. Then halfway down the page, under Forum Tools, click "Mark This Forum Read." Problem solved in two clicks.

Problem is you have to login to do this. Who wants to post to a forum when all you see is betting and mafia.

Currently, the main functionality of opting out of something is that it doesn't show up on the main page if you click "forums" at the top of the site. It's about 50/50, in my experience, on if people use that and cruise through the forums manually, or if they use "New Posts."

There are also several forums I don't care about; I'm not all that interested personally in CyBookie, but I think it's great for the site (I'm just not a gambler). What I'll do when I come on is first go to that forum, and mark all as read. That keeps it out of my "New Posts." That's the only workaround I've found so far.

Hmmm. Well, in my mind, that kind of defeats the purpose of an "opt-in" option. I prefer "New Posts" because you never know who will post something in a different forum than you might expect.

And I've done what you suggest to clear threads, but the Politics board gets bumped all the time and I personally don't really want to read about The Most Racist Country In The World or mark it read every few minutes.

Just my $0.02 (and mini-rant).

Uh oh, the Olympics betting board "spam" is starting, the more sensitive among us should just close their eyes, it'll all be over soon.

I find the front page discussion funny and sad. I enjoy seeing what people are in general talking about throughout the day and if the title catches my eye I read it.

I didn't know about the cave forover a year because it didn't show up. I like gaming on the front but cybookie not so much. How much of a difference in popularity is there from the bookie to the gaming? I realize mafia is completely different from typical gaming threads and would understand them being opt in. I like the discussion on sport games for college basketball and football but aside from the Euro and World Cup glorius month long events they are just there. Maybe not make them opt in but how about an option to opt out.

There is 1, maybe 2 mafia threads.

I'll never understand people complaining about threads showing up...skip over them if you don't want to read them.

Even better is the person that posts in the thread about how they don't care about said thread.

Oh well...people like to complain I guess.
