Re: CF: Rep vs Credits - Rep Feedback Needed

truthfully, I haven't paid all that much attention to it in the past and most likely won't pay any attention to it in the future. Getting rid of the numbers probably wouldn't be such a bad idea if you really want to keep it but if it was gone tomorrow it'd be fine by me.

Re: CF: Rep vs Credits - Rep Feedback Needed

Here is the current formula for how rep is gained and given...

Registration Date Factor
For every 15 days, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Post Count Factor
For every 15 posts, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Reputation Point Factor
For every 15 points of reputation, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Reputation Credit Amount Factor
For every 1,000 reputation credits, users gain 1 point of reputation-altering power.

Minimum Post Count
A user must have 20 posts before his reputation hits count on others.

Minimum Reputation Count
A user must have a reputation value of 20 before his reputation hits count on others.

Minimum Reputation Credit Count
A user must have 500 reputation credits before his reputation hits count on others.

Daily Reputation Clicks Limit
A user may give 5 reputation clicks over each 24 hour period.

Reputation User Spread
A user must give reputation clicks to 5 different users before he can hit the same person again.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

Re: CF: Rep vs Credits - Rep Feedback Needed

I think one thing we're lacking is a clear view of the purpose of the rep points. IMO, the rep points are for giving a user a general idea of how reasonable another user is, not whether or not you agree with the user. Rep points should only be taken away when people post things that are inflammatory, misleading, or deceiving. In order to make the the rep points accomplish this goal, the rep points need to be handed out slowly over many posts by the user, so there should be a limit on how much rep a person can get on a particular post.

I like the current "Reputation User Spread", which effectively prevents any one user from setting out on a vendetta to ruin another user's rep.

I also like the idea of a rep cap. At some point extra rep does become meaningless.

I also like that people with more rep get more "rep power", but it should be changed to something like a tier system, where you can give say 100 rep points if you have +rep, 200 rep points if you're over 10,000 rep, 400 rep points if you're over 100,000 rep, or something like that.

Just my thoughts...
