    It looks really compressed/out-of-focus though. Are you taking the full-res version and sizing it down on your own?

    I used what I was given, the highest rez photos available from the GoIowaState Flickr stream. Some of them aren't that big.

    And I redrew the CF logo in Illustrator so I had a clean version.

    Also, there's a texture and a color overlay/mask applied to the background for creative license sake. It's not supposed to be crisp because it's, well, the background.

    Ah, was wondering if it was that too. Try reducing the opacity of Rhoads (or whoever else you're cutting out) when ya overlay it. Will give it that deliberate soft look.

    Or just get the full-res version from them. :)

    I could, or I can just use a softer brush when I edit the layer mask. But I didn't want to. The photo also had some harsh/blown out lighting, especially on the white of the hat. That on the dark of the background makes it stand out more than I'd really like, but I wanted to get something to Chris for today.
