Reputation System Enhancements
As I've promised, I have been working on refining the reputation system to minimize it's perceived importance as well as to try and make it more credible.
The first thing I did was remove the green and red images that appear under a user's name in posts and on their profile page.
The next thing I've done was remove the anonymous aspect of leaving rep. From now on you will be able to see who left you positive and negative rep points.
Any suggestions on other tweaks or enhancements?
Thanks!
Jeremy Lind

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player. |

Jeremy,
You are awesome!
Actually I really don't care, but at least I know the fine folks who took me from a rep level of 400 or so to -500 because I stated I didn't like the feature.
Maybe now people we see me post positive rep, and as the little message states "maybe I'll be lucky enough to receive the same back in return"

I think it's a great idea, Jer, to make it visible. That should alleviate the problem of people posting others' names when leaving neg rep.

I just left my first negative rep while having my name visible, and I'm feelin pretty solid about it. Enjoy, VII_Fe! | | |

Well According to m-w.com:
Main Entry: rep·u·ta·tion
Pronunciation: "re-py&-'tA-sh&n
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle English reputacion, from Anglo-French, from Latin reputation-, reputatio consideration, from reputare 1 a : overall quality or character as seen or judged by people in general b : recognition by other people of some characteristic or ability <has the reputation of being clever> 2 : a place in public esteem or regard : good name <trying to protect his reputation>
- rep·u·ta·tion·al /-shn&l, -sh&-n&l/ adjective
Unfortunately I am having trouble determining what the numerical representation of reputation translates to. Jeremy, you clearly have programming experience... so you're typecasting reputation as an integer. Is there some sort of enumeration going on? If so... I'm curious what each number represents. Seeing how Angie has 19646... that's quite a few different options for an enumeration.
Well, I can only hope that my number correlates to a reputation of "well known for his physical prowess. One of the more sexy and attractive members of the online community. Irresistable to women, an inspiration to men, the Kevin Durant of college basketball.
But I suppose I'll settle for: eh, he's okay...

The only other thing I can think of would be to have a little sidebar with a number representing the straight number of positive vs. negative reps left, like.......(55/30). That might balance it a little bit, as right now you could have a really good or really bad rep based on the rep level of the people you agree with or disagree with. | "We have gone forth from our shores repeatedly over the last hundred years and we've done this as recently as the last year in Afghanistan and put wonderful young men and women at risk, many of whom have lost their lives, and we have asked for nothing except enough ground to bury them in, and otherwise we have returned home to seek our own, you know, to seek our own lives in peace, to live our own lives in peace." We all know that when a girl is complimented (even unnecessarily), they feel pretty. Now, when she gets positive rep, it's unimaginable how excited she'll get. Needless to say, the only reason it's here is to make all of our lives easier by having happy women around.

While having good rep is always nice, the whole rep thing really doesn't make a huge difference to me. I do like the fact that you need to leave your name there (for accountability). Good job Jeremy...
