Walking around campus today I counted 7 people wearing Iowa clothing. 2 were completely decked out in it. It personally makes me want to puke when you support your alma mater's arch enemy, but I also understand you don't choose to attend a school based on athletics. I doubt this happens at all at EIU. I'm interested as to what others think about students who cheer for the hoks over the good guys....

Hilton Coliseum was specifically built to hold in sound with a solid concrete structure, steel doors, and a crowd that sits just a few feet from the court. With a fan base that frequently ranks among the nations largest crowds, players from opposing teams, as well as Iowa State, have said that the floor has shaken due to the loudness of the crowd

Let them wear it, but dont come crying to me when you get ******* at all day. They know what they are doing. Also, if they have a Hawkeyes shirt on, they probably do support the athletics of Iowa. So I say book drop them, and ask questions later.

I visited a friend who goes to ISU last spring. I wore an Iowa hoody, walked around campus, and checked out a party. Not one person said anything (that wasn't my goal, anyway. It was f*****g cold that weekend). Maybe that's just because they're used to having Hawk fans go to school there, IDK. I've met like 2 ISU fans on the Iowa campus. That probably has a lot to do with the high number of students from Illinois, who don't give a rat's *** about ISU because Iowa is a hand me down of sorts (they grow up as Illinois fans and come to Iowa).

But at the same time, if I went to grad school at Iowa (threw up in my mouth just a little bit there) I would not ever change my affiliation.
I'd tend to give them something of a pass this week. The ones that I think are real d-bags are those that do it practically every day. Again if I was at grad school - over there - I would sport the colors rivalry week but wouldn't go out of my way to do it other days.

Grad students get a pass for obvious reasons.
Undergrad students are gigantic d-bags, and you should inform them of this.

I've seen Iowa State sweatshirts and T-shirts around Iowa City as well. I've also seen plenty of undergrads with OSU, Michigan or other Big 10 gear. People might give you looks, or a few might call you out, but usually nobody cares (outside game day, maybe).
Grad schools is completely different. I'd say a lot of grad students stick with their undergrad alma mater.
On a side note, if you are a diehard fan, from a family of diehard fans, it's usually not likely that you'd even consider applying to a hated rival. If you're 'just a fan', then I can see you going to a rival school, but not sure if such people would care enough to wear ISU gear on the Iowa campus or vice versa. But each situation is different.

They act all happy and surprised until they realize I said state. I was camping up at Lake Itasca, and I was walking back from the lodge, when I passed an elderly couple. The lady was wearing a red/crimson sweatshirt (no writing), and the man was wearing an ISU sweatshirt. I was wearing an Iowa t-shirt.
As we passed, the man saw what I was wearing, and probably a couple seconds after we pass each other, he yells (without turning around) "GO CYCLONES!", to which I replied (also without turning around) "GO HAWKS!". It was all in good fun, but confused the hell out of other people in the area.
