No doubt this was hanging over the teams head. My question is how do Hawk fans feel about the QB situation. From what I've heard from Iowa City, the players don't have much confidence in Jake. What do you hear from your end. I would guess Austin Arnaud in a Hawkeye uniform would have looked awful good to Iowa fans. As as for the recruiting question, still a lot of players under the radar in my view. A little early to assess.

GoHawks, biggest issue I've heard from a player on the team is the lack of confidence in the QB there. What other options does Iowa have at that position?

I've heard that, too. We have a lot of QB recruits coming in like that kid from keokuk and we just got a kid out of illinois that had verbaled to michigan. He is, according to the experts, is a 4-star recruit, a pro style QB which probably doesn't fit into Rich Rodriguez's spread system. Iowa was his second choice at first, but now he as verbaled with the Hawks. They sound talanted, but inexperienced. It will be interesting to see if Ferentz opens up the job in the spring. Obviously who we had behind JC this past year didn't look good in practice caust they never got a chance. Another concern is the o-line. I could be mistaken, but I thought that they gave up the most sacks of any team this year. It doesn't help when your QB is staring at the sky all the time. Oh, and yeah, Austin Arnaud would of looked good in an Iowa uni! He should be good for you guys. Who is that other kid you guys have that killed us with that pass reception on your winning drive? Didn't he come to Ames as a QB? He looked good as a receiver. Broke my heart that day! But it was a hell of a catch.

Bates, and yes, he was recruited as a QB.

Save us tonight, the last hope for all of us,
Light-years gone by, we're still holding on,
Save us tonight, a star shines in all of us,
Far beyond our lives, still our glory lives on.
