Possible Ravens coaching candidates (Ferentz mentioned, now denies.)

Interesting....

Kirk Ferentz

Title: University of Iowa coach.

Age: 52.

Skinny: The Ravens likely will be focused on NFL personnel in their search, but Ferentz is intriguing because of his link with the club. He was the Ravens' assistant head coach/offense from 1996 to 1998, when the team had a productive attack. Ferentz had taken Iowa to four straight January bowl games, but his teams have struggled the past three seasons with a 19-18 record, including 6-6 this season.

Can they pay $3M or more?

Re: Possible Ravens coaching candidates (Ferentz mentioned)

They talked about him as a candidate on ESPN's First Take this morning. I doubt he takes the job though. He seems pretty happy at Iowa and his son is going to be starting his Freshman year next year also. With all the things that have gone on in the program though in the past few months I wouldn't be suprised if he wanted the job. I'm sure we'll all find out within a few days or so.

When do you ever find out anything about Ferentz "within a few days or so"?

I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell.

Let the Iowa City meltdown commence in 3...2...1...

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

That would be a good hire for the Ravens...both offenses put up similar numbers. Continuity.

Re: Possible Ravens coaching candidates (Ferentz mentioned)

I don't see Ferentz leaving for anywhere anytime soon. He is getting a butt-load of $$ to produce mediocre results in Iowa City and is getting away with it. He will be there for at least 3-4 more years even if he doesn't win anymore than 9 games in a season.

I don’t care…I want Jack Trice stadium to be the loudest in the Big 12 and I think that creates homefield advantage.... I want to stress to everyone…I want this place to be juiced up. They bought 36,000 season tickets so there is a passion there…don’t hide it…let it out. I want there to be a passion in the stadium."

I defintely think it's possible but I could also see him thinking the writing is on the wall as far as some rumblings among fans about him and things not looking so rosy in the the future for his team therefore interested in greener pastures.

My guess is that there is alot of things happening behind the scenes in athletics office and he is faced with either shaking up his assistants or else abandon ship...

The poll indicates Bill Cowher is preferred to the fine Captain. He needs about 350 votes to take the lead....

Who cares in KF is a candidate or not?

Exactly. He only has 80 votes. The Ravens fans do not want him.

Why would he leave Iowa? He is like the king over there, what he says goes, he makes good cash, and its an ok place for his his to grow up.

I'm not an expert on sports, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night

Just trying to piok fun at the KF perpetual will he or will he not go. He appears to be in play all the time.

P. S. I cannot help it that Hawaii sucks tonight. I also am losing a lot of credits on their shabby performance, Thunderdave.
