Preview: Iowa State vs. Iowa game

Football 2008
Iowa plays Maine and Florida International leading up to the Iowa State game. Maine is a near D-2 school and FI was winless last season.
Iowa State playes South Dakota State and Kent State first. Both should be winnable.
Iowa has a marginal QB, no returning running backs of note and the defensive backs were kicked out of school for misconduct.
Iowa State will have a new starting QB, big holes at LB and needs to fill on both lines and defensive backfield.
Iowa got worse through the season, Iowa State got better.
Game is in Iowa City.
Iowa State 24
Iowa 20

They actually won their last game, breaking a huge losing streak.

Iowa got worse? Uhh they won four of their last five. I know the Westewrn Michigan game was a disaster but if they win that game they win their last 5 in a row. I do not think you can say they got worse.

They barely beat a terrible Minny team and LOST to Western Michigan. How can YOU say they got better? If ISU had won their last game and the 5 before that they would have had 6 wins in a row.

We used to dream about basketball during football season. Now we can't wait for football in the middle of hoops.

Dadgumit - Iowa is NOT OUR SUPERBOWL! If we talk football in basketball season, talk about the entire schedule. Not one game. I hope pukeye fans don't see this thread.

I think Iowa will be much improved next year, and I don't like our chances so early in the year, we are still rebuilding, so I just want to see ISU compete with Iowa that early. I think Iowa wins this one, sorry. I just hope I can get tickets!

In all fairness, Iowa fans have been talking about the Iowa-Iowa State game too. I'm a member on Iowa's scout website and we talked about it for awhile about a week ago, even though I personally think it's much too early to talk about a singular game. Way too many intangibles that could change beforehand.

I like Iowa's chances right now, but I'm a little cautious predicting any games after the last three seasons. I could very easily see Iowa State coming into Kinnick and pulling out a straight up win.

Good luck this recruiting season.

No one said it was our superbowl that I see, although it was a big win last year. I believe it will be Iowa's superbowl next year. KF HAS to win this game to keep the Iowa fans off his back, unless he goes to a decent bowl game. Without a win over Iowa State, that will be tough.

Well, when we talk about a non-conf football opponent in January...

No, he's too busy telling us that it's stupid to talk about playing our main rival in what is always the Event of the Year in our state on the "in-state rivals" board. Let's just tone it back guys, we all know that Iowa is just another Toledo/Kent St. game to our grand program.

IMO:

There is no reason for Iowa to win at FB against ISU for the next 4 years....

Seriously... There isn't any good reason for them to beat us.

Also, IMO, we beat N, KSU and CU 3 out of the next 4 years ....

- keep.

What's the good reason for ISU to beat Iowa?

I don't think either team can feel confident.
