You didn't say to fire McD, but referring to this as "year two of the McD error" isn't exactly an endorsement for a contract extension. Although this wasn't a win today, for a young team the Cyclones did alright on the road against a pretty good Baylor team. Of the 19 TO's, 16 were from 2 Freshman and a Sophomore. I think we just need to be patient and see how WJ, Brackins, and Garrett progress.

I'm not anti McD. At the same time, I'm still waiting to be convinced he is the savior for ISU Men's BBall.

WOW... Just saw that score... 36 pts... that is pretty bad... Did anyone watch it? Was the Iowa D that good?

Re: Well...

Okay... I'm reading the box score. Iowa scored 16 pts on the free throw line and MSU had 25 team fouls to Iowa's 10 team fouls...

There is your game...

Re: Well...

Iowa played some pretty good D tonight if you ask me. Mich State wasn't missing wide open shots. They weren't getting good shots at all and that is a credit to Iowa.

We are in year two of the McD error and still waiting for our signature win. Yes, we have had some bad breaks, but the Hawks have had just as many or more.

Not stirring the pot. Just an observation.
I would perfer he builds a quailty program and not have emphasis on a signature win, if your a "Top Quailty" program other teams will try and get that signature win from ISU....

That being said....

1-1-07 vs Kansas, ISU totally outmatched, but not out coached. If Jiri make a point blank 3 footer with 18 seconds left, ISU wins instead of losing in overtime (68-64) to the best team in the Big 12 on National TV, that went to the NCAA elite eight.....

You should have been there it was a Great Game....."Hilton Magic"

Re: Well...

I do remember that game, but you know what....the good guys lost. I'm not talking about a close loss, moral victory game.

I suppose that is McD's signature "close loss".

Good, that is how you get some real discussion going instead of a lot of pats on the back. I would like to beat a decent team on the road - that means more than winning at home to the NCAA.

Re: Well...

I really don't think you can call this a program building win by any measure. Michigan State has been over-rated this year and Iowa has been shown to be a bottom of the conference team that can score in streaks. They got a great win considering what they've done in previous games but I would fall far short of calling it a signature win by any measure.

A program isn't built on one player and it doesn't succeed because of one player, thus a program won't fail if it doesn't get that one player.

You're right, a signature win would be beating Mich St, then going on to win the Big Ten and getting a sweet 16 bid that year. But beating MSU and winning only 3 conference games all year, just luck against a weak team.

Re: Well...

This has me thinking, though, what is McDermott's best win as our coach so far? At Missouri last year? Purdue this year? Maybe the first Oklahoma game last year?
