Hawks cost Colts Championship Bid

As an Iowa State fan, there are two things that hold true - I root for the underdog and I hate the Hawks. So yesterday, I am pulling for the Chargers, but doubt they can win.

Much to my delight, Sanders gets a personal foul for taunting Kaeding and Clark drops an easy pass at the end of the game. Maybe I watched the game with Cyclone glasses on, but I say that the two former EIU Squawkeyes cost the Colts the game. That's my story and I am sticking to it.

I'm not sure that catch was "easy". There were Colts that underperformed that game, but Clark and Sanders weren't them.

I kinda dont mind the Colts, i would like the more if it werent for the fact that every single Hawk fan is now a bandwagon Colt Homer due to Bobby and Dallas. Iowa fans think Clark and Sanders could walk on water.

Its great to see Iowa fans disappointed once agiin. I know Kaeding is still alive in the playoffs, but with the way he kicks in the playoffs, i have plenty of faith he wont be playing after next week.

Root for Ellis!

Cyclone
Iowa State became the Cyclones after they leveled Northwestern in 1895. As the Chicago Tribune (9/29/1895) noted:
'Struck by a Cyclone
It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town'

Of course, if SD lost by less than 3, they could blame Kaedung. It was a win-win situation.

I was born in Indy, and love the Colts... I could care less where Bob and Dallas went to college, they are Colts now. Bob Sanders is my favorite player on the team, and I'm proud to wear his jersey.

P.S. - The Chargers have 3 Hawkeyes and the Colts have 2

From Peter King at SI to Jim Rome, Sanders and Clark have received enough love from the national media to last Iowa fans a lifetime. And now that Aaron Kampman has emerged in Green Bay, they have another former Hawk to get messy over.

About that pass to end the game yesterday - it looked to be too far over his head. Nothing easy about it.

No, it went right through his hands.

The throw was high and there was a defender right in front of him, blocking his vision.

Agreed. Some just will go well out of their way to rip on the Hawks - even when there is no merit to it.

Clark and Sanders are two of the best players on that team. Clark had a TD catch and Sanders was playing hurt - when he returned to the game after a hiatus.

Manning was as big of a culprit as any in that game. Harrison's fumble in the redzone certainly didn't help.

I concur, very disturbing comment there. If (okay I can't think of any NFL caliber Hawks on their team right now) let's say, Moiaki was drafted by the Bears and was the best player by far on the team, there's still no way in heck I'd go out and buy his jersey. Especially with the Colts, you have about 90 other options!!

Yeah, I'm a Vikings fan, but there's no way I'll be purchasing a Chad Greenway jersey any time soon.

I was thinking about this during the game...do you think the players keep the rivalry in their hearts like we the fans? I mean, would Dobbins trash talk Sanders just because he went to UI?

I personally don't think the players keep up the rivalry. Once they move onto the NFL the only rivalries they care about are the ones for the team they are currently on.

Thoughts?

TRUE & VALIANT

Well with the Chargers win, Iowa State is guaranteed to have a player in the Super Bowl now, with either Tim Dobbins for the Chargers or Ellis Hobbs for the Patriots. I'm rooting for the Pats, as it would be great to see a Cyclone starting in the Super Bowl again!
